The weather wasn't that cold, I didn't have any Christmas lights up, so why was my bill over a hundred dollars more than last months.

Ours was normal, even with the cost adjustment from the Christmas lights down town. Ours was 290, after cost adjustment.
While I understand some people's bills are sky rocketing, but you've also got to be conscious of your usage. Turn lights off when you leave, don't run lights just to run them. Don't jack your heat to 80 degrees. Find a comfortable temp, 68-70, and keep it there.

I never had a $200.00 until I moved to Osceola, I wish we had bought a house in another town because this is ridiculous. I love living here because my neighbors are really great and it's generally a quiet place but the electric bills are outrageous and we are energy concious but the bill is still high $290.00 is not the norm in other places

Our light bill would be cheaper somewhere else, yes, but I'm talking about Osceola. What I was saying was some are complaining that theirs were $500-$700+. Which is more than likely an error on the person using the energy. Mine has never "sky rocketed" like others have. But I'm also conscious of the heat and air I use, the amount of laundry I do, etc.

It was higher for december because of outside christmas lights. Except for the hottest and coldest months, my bill is usually around 85 bucks. Dont need to have friends, just gotta watch usage.

I watch the use of electricity and my thermostat stays on 65, and it is still too high. I lived in this house for 7 years. Nothing has changed.

Osceola has no business being in the electric business. Hell they can not even do basic accounting in city hall. Now remember Osceola has a state of emergency budget. This is the result of plain ole stupidity. You can not take secretary & make them an accountant just because they have been on the payroll for many years. Now here is some sound economic advise for our mayor. Call all of your department heads in & tell them I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is I'm going to let you keep your job. The bad news is if you want to keep it your salary will be reduced by 10%. Some of the dead wood will retire if we are lucky. The city can replace them at a much lower rate of pay or eliminate the position all together. Much of what they are doing is being done by some underling in the first place.

I have a question. I would like to know why Joe Harris's light bill, water, gas is only 150.00 Dollars for December. He was showing his receipts to Tommy Baker at Food Giant Friday, and Tommy was telling him that his was about that same amount in the hottest months also. How do they do it?

How do they do it? So you seen this with your own eyes? I doubt it. And if you don't like what yours is, then move out if osceola! I've never seen so many grown people gripe about something. Is it a rip off? Yes, but all you have to do is move. Why keep living in a town where the mayor is corrupt and the light bills are so high. Why not just move and start saving that extra $200 or $300 that your over paying. And then the town keeps putting Dickie right back in office every single time. Boot his a*s out or move, its that simple.

My daughter's bill has been over 500.00 the last 2 months. They keep their house so cold, her daughter sits on the couch wrapped in a blanket. Their heat is set on 58, still high bills every month. Doesn't sound right, if you ask me.
