Residents on one street in Middlefield have had stray bullets hit their homes.

Most ranges have people keeping an eye on participants to ensure they are not firing wildly. If range was shut down and gunfire still heard, sounds like there is more than one issue here.

You found no bullet? yet they say it was bullet??? sounds like some solid cop work there.

I am a witness I have shot at the Top Gun range Numerous times , horseplay is not tolerated they have range officers there and I personally watched the owner Ralph kick 2 people out of the range because they would not put on their safety glasses . I hope this doesnt cause us a great place to shoot

I agree, I have Known ralph for over 15 years he is a highly respected law enforcement officer and tolerates NO BS he is getting a raw deal

Ralph may be a great guy and a law enforcement officer, however if you take a look at where these houses line up with the range it's very clear where the bullets are coming from. Why would you not as owner of the range immediatly shut it down or prove it's not the range? What will it take- an injury or even a death? Where is this guy's common sense? Shutting down the 500 yard range but not the rifles that they use? Totally IGNORANT! We need to get involved and help these people!

This particular shooting range is right behind my property and I can't even go in my woods or pick blueberries in my field because of the shooting. My next door neighbor had several machine gun holes in his house and the owner of the range knew about it and offered to pay for the damage. The police were shooting that day. They start shooting early in the morning and you can hear the rat-a-tat-tat-tat of the guns. I'm sure if I went back in my woods I'd find evidence in the trees. Someone is going to get killed if it isn't stopped, regardless of who is shooting or their ability. The bullets/rounds are traveling about 1/2 mile to get over to our street. I hope they do close down. It isn't safe.

If one would check, you would see law enforcement complaints all through the various hunting seasons of stray bullets hitting homes and trees on people's property throughout Geauga County. I have to wonder if David Mack has his own agenda regarding Top Gun Shooting Range, or maybe- Great Lakes Outdoor Supply, both owned by Ralph Spidaleri.

I am going to guess the problem with the neiboors boils down to the noise not bullets. I know I would not like to hear gunshots all day. Middlefield in unzoned and the owner can do whatever he likes that is the american way. I dont like the horse manure that destroys my car paint either, but its the american way. I have an idea lets try to make sure those stray bullets kill all the amish horses in the area then everybody could be happy....except for the noise :)

maybe taller steel "containment" walls should be erected? i have never seen the place myself but i would *assume* that taller walls on the 3 downrange sides would hopefully eliminate 99.9% of stray bullets and maybe reduce the noise too.

The noise isn't really the issue. Sure, it's annoying on weekend mornings to be awakened by it, but for the most part during the day you get used to it. But ever since our next door neighbors told my husband about those machine gun rounds in their home (while their grandchildren were playing outside) at the beginning of summer, we have been cautious. The range sits right behind our property. The fact that the owner alledges that the bullets may be coming from somewhere else is a bunch of bull...we all know where they're coming from. Does it have to take a fatality to get him to take action and either make his establishment safe or close it down?

steel containment walls are a great idea but it should be the owner of the range should be putting them up not the neighbors to protect themselves. i wonder what would happen if HE lived behind a range and his house was hit (accidentally) I bet the FBI and ATF would get involved IMMEDIATELY because he is a Police Officer. Sadly, since we are just citizens we dont deserve/get that kind of protection.

The owner of the firing range, Ralph Spidalieri, says the range is built according to NRA regulations for safety. He shut down the range as soon as he heard about the stray bullets. When he visited the property, he could still hear gunfire from all directions. Spidalieri says he can't say whether the bullet came from the range or not. umm ok since i dont know what faces what i'll take a shot in the dark here, say the hole is on the same side of the house that faces the range...that would indicate the shot most likely came from the range now if the hole is on the side of the house that doesnt face the range its safe to assume it didnt come from there. im no overpaid detective but i think this really a no brainer. now *IF* it a stray from the ranges side, but not from the range itself i would be very worried that the people at the range are now in the line of fire from someone else behind them. trajectory of a bullet is *normally* a straight forward issue. stop putting profit over lives and erect a steel wall that surpasses NRA regulations. (as jaded as you may be, a human life is still worth it)

Oh trust me, the holes are ALL on the side facing the range! The owner KNOWS where the bullets are coming from off camera. It's On camera that he seems to think they may be coming from somewhere else...hmmmmmm.

I have utilized Top Gun Shooting Range on a number of occasions. It has been my experience that the range is always operated properly and safely. The back drops are built high and thick and designed to absorb and not deflect bullet rounds.(Unlike what a steel containment wall would do???) We're not talking about a bunch of guys with a cooler full of beer shooting at cans in their back yard. This a professionally run, properly constructed shooting range built in an area zoned for this type of facility. Who is this David Mack guy???

I don't know who David Mack is. I assumed he was a taxi driver/friend of one of the Amish fmailies involved.
Somehow the bullet rounds are getting through to the homes over here. The last time it was long-range rifle, and the time before that it was machine gun round that went into my next-door neighbor's home. The owner came right over and apologized, and offered to pay for the damages. He knows there is something wrong with his back-drops/barricades off camera.

Shut it down, Ralph! I shop at your store because you have everything-service, product, etc but I have no problem going to Geauga Bow with my needs.Let's use some common sense here, Please!

First; If no bullet was found, why are you saying it was a bullet ?
Second; If you're some retarded liberal reporter with nothing else to to but fear monger, then you need to get a life.
Third; Investigate and report ONLY the facts. Maybe a rock from a lawn mower?.....
Forth: How did they "hear" a bullet if "NO" bullet was found.

Just Wondering,
There was no lawn mower being used and the Amish don't use powered mowers so rule that out. What are you going with next-it was gravel from a car on the road? Use some common sense. Also how does this explain the neighbors to the west of the range having bullets fly around them when they are in their fields next to the range? This also happened in the past and has not been reported.

My neighbors gave the bullets to the Geauga County deputy who verified on the spot it was the exact same ammunition they were using at the shooting range. Too bad none of that was on camera.

Total BS by Ralph. I'm surprised and shocked that he is leaving any part of the range open. Maybe the answer is to quit frequenting his store.If he lies about his range he will lie about his products. I for one am going to Geauga Bow from now on!
