So I updated windows and they gave me a few optional updates. I didn't look them all over as I figure they are the usually fluffy updates that come with Windows optional updates. Well one of them was Bing Desktop. It was totally annoying. Not only are Bings backgrounds too busy looking, and distracting but they are sort of flaming "in your face" sort of annoying. Sure most Bing photos are beautiful but they are rather flamboyant and screams for attention like a Drag Queen on a rampage. But anyway, they also shove this floating search bar in your face. As if we don't have enough extra search bars being shoved down our throats from Google Toolbar trying to load ever time we update something or install a new program. I'm getting the impression that Bing is trying way too hard to grab our attention and it just comes off as desperate. I don't like their search page and avoid it and now this sneaky update which is basically blatantly self promoting SPAMWARE is now trying to hog my desktop. I'm glad I uninstalled it but if Bing is anything like AO-Hell or Google I'm sure they have hidden software fragments all over my hard drive that I'm sure will soon annoy me even more. BTW, if you are looking for a CLEAN simple yet sophisticated search engine try DuckDuckGo. Its a simple clean non obnoxious search page without distractions. and Unlike Bing it doesn't SCREAM at you like some Peacock on Steroids. Also DuckDuckGo's search box doesn't fly around the screen like Googles search box does when you're trying to type in it. Nor is it a high maintenance site like Yahoo in which an entire magazine loads before you can begin to type anything in the search box. Anyway, I'd have to say after this mornings updates I'm going to be less trusting of Microsoft Updates when it comes to the non-essential updates. That Bing update is annoying not to mention a little presumptuous in that it loads every time you turn on your PC and is right in the center of your screen. Bing is totally coming off as both desperate for attention and very pretentious.
