What do you think about the charter school issues raised in the Orlando Sentinel's special report?
I will not mention the name of the school. However, we had a horrible experience with a charter school in Central Florida. I feel we wasted valuable time for our son who has educational and other disabilities. The school had many problems but the most glaring to me was that they thought my son was in second grade until the very end of the school year. During his IEP, it came out that he was actually in 1st grade due to being held back. He was taught on a second grad level all year. There was an Orange County school office at the meeting, but they just avoided the issue and quickly moved on. There definately needs to be regualtions on the charter schools. We only have so many years to educate our children. This precious time does not need to be wasted on a school that is unable to teach appropriately!!

Little more research is exactly why I stepped in to expose this school for what it really is. A hubble of "students" enticed into "working" for shady and manipulative criminals. Extreme? Maybe. But, as a student that went there for 3 and a 1/2 years 2000-2003(the longest consec. in school history at that point) and right in the middle of the battle that would eventually be exposed as just a "money thing" but, it was much worse than that. Much worse. In the article it states that a few former instructors stepped up to complain. Mr. Davis was actually my Math teacher the same time I was on the "work crew" and if you follow up with these teachers, many whom I can say would jump at the chance to unite and confront this and who have actually asked me to be a spokesperson for the whole thing. I was one of the most outspoken and defiant students and in turn was "suspended indefinately" 2 months before graduation even though I was one of the most decorated students to ever go there. National Honor Roll, Above average ACT score, 99% National Percentile Ranking for Reading to name a few. But for a school trying to improve its image what happened? I implore you to investigate. There are still students at risk to all the manipulations. And for the record, the parents were the ones who were fooled the most.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Scorpio

Let the past stay in the past for now. Even though you may have fond memories of intense experiences, the Virgo Moon sees to it that you have virtually no desire to go there again just yet. This is your opportunity to show others what you can do in a more civilised environment. Don't try to shout down someone who is rude enough to interrupt. As unlikely as it may seem, the softest voice has the biggest chance of being heard today.
