Personally I think the stores are nice, clean and much better than a supercenter. I avoid wal-mart's traditional stores at all costs, but this is a great supermarket. It's not going to bring in any more traffic than a Publix or Albertson's. Personally I'd rather see them limit the amount of banks that are popping up everywhere. Do I really need 6 banks within a 1.5 mile radius?? You're comparing apples to oranges by using banks as a comparison to Walmart. Banks don't draw anywhere near the number of people or the amount of traffic that a big box retail store does- especially Walmart. Also, banks are not open 24/7, and while there may be many banks with a 1.5 radius, they are all different banks. I'd take 10 banks over one Walmart any day. And yes, I tend to think that if it was a Publix going in, there would be a lot of dissatisfaction with that as well, considering that there already is a Publix and Albertson's in the very same area as where the new Walmart will be built. At some point, it has to GET to the point when the powers that be come to their senses (assuming they have any sense to begin with- and that's a stretch) and realize that enough is enough is enough.

They have the same items (except Generic) that Publix, Albertson's and Winn-Dixie has. So quality of their merchandise for this particular location isn't a big issue. Okay- point taken. But beyond that, the area already has enough supermarkets and convenience stores, and they can design it all they want to blend in with the community- doesn't change the fact that you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. If Walmart has a reputation of being trashy with inferior quality merchandise, it's because they've earned that reputation.

Lower class at Wal-Mart wrote: Notice how Wal-Mart has become the store-of-choice for the lower class? In our area, it's full of Haitians, Mexicans, Dominicans, etc. Good luck finding a clerk who speaks English. I don't go there anymore. Target is much better. I guess I'm a low life. I'm sorry, I can't afford the other stores for my everyday stuff. I do go to Albertson's for my meats. But not fresh fish.

Walmart? I love it - and I NOT on benefit! I find the clerks are cheerful and attentive, and I can get a real bargain in Walmart. Live and let live! When the store opens, see how many locals flock there! Oh yes they will!

If anyone would like to see what a Supercenter in that are would have looked like, feel free to visit the Rouse/Colonial one. You better have a CWL for your protection though. While Wally world has every right to develop any property they purchase, but they have to abide by Orange County zoning.

GatorGrad wrote: What a bunch of snobs in this community. How come they have no problem living next to the Orange County Utilities building (which this wal-mart will be right across from)? That brings utility trucks in and out all the time. Just because it has the name 'Wal-Mart' attached to it these people who overpaid for their homes are up in arms. I live near an Albertson's and i just don't shop there. I deal. Ahh, you also bought a home near the landfill too. I guess you can deal with more than I can. With that nose I'm surprised you don't smell the landfill wherever you're at! Yes I leave near the Orange County landfill, but you would never know it. And FYI there's a lot of nice neighborhoods in this part of town and plenty of people shop at wal-mart neighborhood market (not the supercenter, the grocery store).

Yeah, I'm familiar with the original plan, and the final version is a GROCERY STORE. I do agree that supercenters can be ghetto and it's highly unfortunate, because in other states they are quite nice. Poor management of them I imagine, the grocery stores are another beast. They are cleaner and generally nicer. Unlike you, I don't have the money to waste wiping myself because I'm living in a middle class that is getting squeezed more and more each day.

The homeowners won, they got the store scaled back until it's now just a grocery store. Those that are still whining about too many grocery stores or the Walmart brand driving down their property values really need to get over themselves. You won people, celebrate.

I love these complainers always the same: I WILL GO SHOP IN SOMEONE ELSES NEIGHBORHOOD BUT NO STORE SHOULD BE IN MINE BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC OR NOISE...TOO DARN BAD. Who do you people think you are? Go live on Mars..I guarantee you that no neighbors will exist nor business to disrupt your quality of life. Better yet go live in a box so no one has to have your noise or disruption when you go to a store in their neighborhood...You HYPOCRITS!!! These people always think they are special and someone else should have to deal with the noise. As for the jerk who will not shop at the Market? Who cares plenty of others will.

Exactly, these people should be happen they dodged a bullet...if they had bought their house 3 miles down the road they'd be in the Vista lakes area, and we all know about their property values...
