well we would have sat on the bench in the nba depending on what team he landed in the darft he was project for one of the play off teams in the late first round or the lottery bunch that had early second round picks. he might not see many minutes just as Brandon Jennings. but he'll play something im truthfuly not convince jennnings or calathes would be affective in the nba anyways as may be a reserve pg. we'll see next season with Jennings if im right.

Great opportunity for Nick. He gets to live and work in Europe. Europe is wide open. You'll love it there--Paris, Rome, Copenhagen, Berlin, the Alps, Culture!!

What's not to love. I have lived in Europe three times and was born in Italy.

The NBA has stated that he can't be "coached up" to play their level of BB.
He simply took the money and ran, a basic admission that the NBA scouts were correct in their evaluation.
Not even an average college player IMO.

The Gators will better off without him because he lacks consistency, an attribute which at his age and experience level will be difficult to improve at the college level. Personally I think its because he expected to be so much more dominant than he actually is. If you watched the Gators this past season, by the end of the season if the game was on the line I wanted the ball in the hands of Walker, not Calathes. That's the bottom line.

Even if that is true, we have had a historic run the last few years. Back to back basketball titles, and 2 football titles in 3 years. I do not doubt that things will eventually change, but you won't ever be able to take these accomplishments away from Gator fans. You are just jealous of our overwhelming success.

First, it is a free country and Calathes can do whatever he wants. But just know, that Calathes has zero legacy at UF. He accomplished nothing in two years there. And just because he is a good passer, let's not assume he was not a selfish player. The facial expressions and body language he displayed were appalling for someone who is supposed to be the leader of this team. I think this will be addition by subtraction for the Gators.

Calathes: you are one of the most overrated players in the history of UF basketball. You accomplished absolutely nothing. Enjoy counting our money, since you don't have to worry about counting championships.

The last line of this article slays me. A high school kid skipped his senior year to play in Europe? What a stupid move.

If you look at Nick's numbers, his assist/TO ratio is about 2 to 1 which stacks up with other sucessful NBA points coming out of college, especially when he's over six a game which is outstanding. That doesn't mean he may not get careless with the ball at times, but his numbers are what they are. Also for 17 ppg a 48% field goal percentage is terrific. Nick may have only average lateral quickness covering opponents defensively, but any guard in the five rebound range in consecutive years and over 1.8 steals shows solid evidence of some level of exceptional athleticism none the less. If he can put on muscle with his big height advantage(for a PG) there's no reason to believe he couldn't be a solid player in the NBA some day. Why take a chance on getting drafted in the mid second round and make no money when he can be garunteed instant financial security. I don't know if he comes across personally as a jerk or something(?), otherwise I don't understand the hate.

So he is following the path of Christian Dreijer??? At least Calathes did not leave for the European League in the middle of the season the way Dreijer did.

Nick C only player signed by Billy D who was on the team 2 years or longer who left without playing in an NCAA tournament. Not a good legacy to leave behind. Deferred to Erving Walker in clutch situations near the end of the year.
