My question is, what do you expect Fisher to do? Bowden is deffering to him on the decisions, as you say. And Fisher knows that once Bowden retires, he'll be the one taking over, so wouldn't you expect him to start the young "studs" now, so that they'll be developed once he's the head coach.

Yes, Ponder and Richardson combined for 5 INTS, but FSU was still in the game late, against the best team in the ACC in Wake Forest. And yes a few of Richardson's throws were horrible, but the best way to work on that throwing motion is through real game experience.
I think Fisher realizes, as ESPN2 said Saturday night, that perhaps its not all Weatherford's fault, meaning its either the gameplanning of the Noles or other players. If its the latter, then putting Weatherford back in won't do any good anyways, so why not get the young guys experience.

Back to the INTs in Saturday's game. Yes, I noticed some horrendous throws by both Ponder and Richardson. But I also noticed two QBs who, once they get their throwing motion fixed a bit, could very well be standouts. That especially goes for Richardson. With his athletic ability, if Jimbo and the QB coach can fix his motion a bit, he will be a force to recon with.

Vandy can and will beat FSU in the Poinsettia Bowl if FSU breaks into a 7-6 season! Take the wraps off, put Bowden into an office job as Athletic advisor. Why should the school suffer - they did when Jeff Bowden was there to the pay out of 500,000 dollars for doing nothing!

When I look at Weatherford, I think of the 7 straight years FSU had a starting quarterback wtihout any competition. Give Ponder a couple of games without competition.

Peter Tom called it right sometime ago when he said our offense looked like a "high school" offense, and this "new staff" makes me wonder if they have a clue as to what they're doing! I personally think Mickey Andrews should be Bobby's replacement and we should be recruting players that at least know the basics of how to block and tackle.

This guy Fisher doesn't impress me. We could be in for more bad seasons with this idiot running the show.

FSU is somewhat confused with direction at this time. Leadership, with coaches and players, is lacking. On Saturday, Weatherford should have been put into the game. FSU needed an experienced QB to have a real chance against the WF defense. One day FSU will be back.

As soon as Weatherford gets under center, the opposing defenses will blitz every down against the young line and his complete immobility. He didn't separate himself during the off-season like a hungry veteran should have. Too bad. Sit on the bench.

I thought this was a sports editorial and not a comedy routine? I thought Ponder played like Weatherford Jr against Wake. One bad game for Ponder will not doom FSU. Weatherford was consistently unreliable on a weekly basis. We lost a better QB in Xavier Lee. For the sake of winning, Weatherford is where he needs to be...on the sideline.

FSU fans weren't wondering why Weatherford never played. He started 33 games and proved nothing more than the fact that he's average. Ponder and Richardson are better and have potential, obviously they aren't going to look like Heisman trophy winners in their first big game.

Nice article. I thought it would have been a story book ending if in the 4th Quarter, Jimbo would have given the nodd to Weatherford when we were down 9-3. I honestly believe he would of been the best candidate to drive us down the field to get the TD. But it did not happen. So will see what happens with Colorado because if our offense looks bad in this one, we should give the Senior the start against Miami. Because Miami defense just might be a tad better than Wake Forest.

Here's the explanation you idiot writer, Weatherford is was and always will be terrible. Obviously you have watched FSU football for the last 3 years, Weatherford lost to Wake 30-0. Or, maybe this idiot writer is a gator or cane fan who simply wants FSU fans to suffer more. Being an FSU fan has been no fun since 2000. Rix and Weatherford are the two worst FSU qbs since Eric Thomas stunk up the place.

Nice to see the same fans are still here. Weatherford played behind a makeshift line and did what he was told-protect the football. Lee ran in circles and shotgunned the ball around and made a couple of great plays and was the second coming of Charlie Ward until a defense (Miami)made him actually try to string two good throws together. Against Wake Weatherford would have understood that his teammates would come around if he didn't make a bonehead mistake. Ponder and Richardson are glorified every time they complete a Long pass or get away with completing a throw into triple coverage so thats what they try. Maybe with the full team back there will be enough support so they don't have to try to win the game on every play.
Maybe next year Fisher and Trickett they won't have to sell out the season to get their favorite players experience.

Why ask about Drew? Look at HIS stats against Wake. Why moan about Xavier? Look at HIS stats against Wake.
Want something to consider? Booby is STILL controlling play-calling. Booby disdains the buttonhook, the tight end, the pass to the fullback (except when Edgar Bennett was here), the running backs (except when Warrick Dunn was here), and anything that does not begin with "everybody go long down the sidelines!!!!!!" You will not win any games (except controlled scrimmages like Chat and WCar) when your running backs handle the ball a dozen times and the tandem quarterbacks run more often than that. You will not win any games when every opponent knows your game-plan and mindset about 6 weeks before the season opener and has approximately equal athletes because of scholarship limitations (and because your immediate 7 years past recruiting efforts were stymied by a moronic offensive coordinator hired by his Mother and beaten into submission by his Father)
No, with our current game plan and head(up-his-own-butt) coach, I suspect that winning a 3rd game this season will require a miracle on the order of Moses parting the waters. Wait, maybe that's Booby's game plan for the rest of 2008 season.

You don't know what you are talking about Weatherford is great he has the same ability as Chad Henne and I think you are a D*O*U*C*H*E*B*A*G who likes to play with little things in your pants

WRONG! Weatherford has had several chances to succeed, but he hasn't. To put it plainly, he's a 7-6 quarterback. We're better than that. So there will be some hiccups along the way, but you have to roll with those punches. You have to look ahead, and you have to get these guys reps. Granted, Saturday was an atrocious display of a "re-tooled" offense, but hopefully it was a learning experience. If we don't come out and stomp on a decent Colorado, then we have to start asking deeper questions: What is wrong in Tallahassee? Where can we point the blame: Jimbo or Bobby? Our players are top notch, undoubtedly, but there's got to be a reason we haven't had it together for so many years. I don't think it's Bobby...maybe it's something in the water?

at this point, who cares? the program has been wallowed in mediocrity for years and will for years to come until they get rid of the entire coaching staff and bring in a young, fresh coach who is an agressive recruiter. Until then, with Bobby, Jimbo, or whomever..they will continue to be the 4th or possibly 5th best program in the state.

Is not it possible, at least remotely possible that Jimbo WANTS Bobby out?

Is not it possible, at least remotely possible that Jimbo is making decisions for tomorrow when HE is head coach?

Logic dictates that Drew should have been put into the game.

He wasn't.

What does that tell you about Jimbo's motives?

Practice today, win tomorrow.

The Point: If FSU plays the rest of the year similar to the way they played Saturday night, then Bobby Bowden will have to step down. There is no way Bobby can survive a season like that, no way. Jimbo gets the head coaching position, posts a much improved season (at Bobby’s expense) and is seen as the saving hero of FSU football doing something that Bobby could not do! Ironically, Jimbo orchestrated the whole thing by “practicing” his offensive stars this season.
