I did not think a shovel was found at the site so this must be a misprint.

If convicted, Anthony faces a death sentence.

Under direct examination by defense attorney Jose Baez, Seubert noted other several items of evidence submitted by the prosecution that she tested for the presence of unknown DNA, blood and semen. Those items included pieces of a spare tire cover from the trunk of Casey Anthony's car, a shovel she borrowed from her parents' neighbor, several items of clothing from Casey's bedroom and a "shovel" found with her daughter's remains.

It's kind of funny that ngrace says the same about you. Incidentally, ngrace has tossed around the Casey-PTSD thing for quite a long time now. And within 2 days of Baez's opening statement, she has believed George is Caylee's killer. Looks like you're so busy worrying about Richard Grund you don't even pay attention to what others are posting.
You guys really crack me up. None of you has any idea who you are. Why, even today, Nuthutter told Dazed to go f--- himself. All because he switched to a different screen name, as he is wont to do.
The slightest change of opinion & you scream,'It's not the REAL so-and-so!'
Tooo funny.
The original ngrace probably has good chuckles over it and I think it's quite hilarious how this one is on the verge of hopping onto condemning Casey for her guilt.

Regardless, it does not change THE TRUTH one iota.

The only reason for the "shock" was much of the media had portrayed it as a slam-dunk conviction, and people tend to believe what they're been told in "the news".
But something is very wrong when a nation is "shocked" at an acquittal, then suddenly the vast majority of the talking-heads publicly agree Casey was overcharged.
imo this case was a captivating media demonstration of "blowin in the wind"......
ROTFLMAO

that's a load of BS

Casey is Guilty - she was WRONGLY ACQUITTED...which is why the whole nation is very, very angry at this miscarriage of justice...

the anger and disdain for Casey will NOT subside...just like it never did for OJ Simpson...

let her stay holed up for the rest of her life...she will NOT be accepted in mainstream society ever and neither will people stay quiet or calm if she tries to cash in on her victim, Caylee's, murder...

Are you trying to say you didn't know the entire COUNTRY was shocked at this verdict?
Let me describe what the daily political cartoon by Steve Breen was in the San Diego Union-Tribune on 6th July 2011: The caption read,'America reacts to the Casey Anthony verdict.' The cartoon frame was filled with a sea of wide-eyed faces expressing absolute shock & dismay.
Do you just ignore this kind of thing, or what?
i'll cut some slack to those who have a life - and those who only had time to rely on media coverage.

but for those who FOLLOWED the case, who read every document, who watched every hearing and who downloaded every ruling on every motion - there is NO FCKING EXCUSE for acting surprised or for continuing to call casey anthony™ a murderer.

i think it was supposed to say "and a blanket found with her daughter's remains".

the fbi analyst described how she tested the blanket for the presence of semen, a male bodily fluid, but none was found.

at least not in amounts meeting the detection threshold

Yeah, it must be.

HEATHER SEUBERT

A chief agent at the FBI's lab in Quantico, Virginia, Seubert said she worked in the lab's DNA unit in 2008. She is an expert in serology, the study of bodily fluids, including blood.

Seubert said she tested various parts of Casey's Pontiac Sunfire for blood, including a spare tire cover and lining from the trunk. Both tests came out negative, and no DNA profile could be generated.

She also said she found no blood or biological stains on the clothes collected from Casey's room, and got no DNA profile from the shovel Casey borrowed from her neighbor, Brian Burner.

There were also no bodily fluids detected on clothing found near Caylee's remains, though Seubert admitted that being out in the elements for an extended period of time would potentially destroy some DNA evidence.

Seubert added a small trace of DNA was found on duct tape found near the toddler's remains, but that ended up belonging to an FBI lab technician who handled the tape.

Baez also wanted to ask Seubert about paternity tests conducted on the DNA collected, but the state objected.

After the jury was dismissed for lunch, Seubert testified that in October 2008, Nick Savage, another FBI agent working on the case, asked her to conduct the paternity test to see if Casey's brother, Lee Anthony, was Caylee's father. That test came up negative.

Prosecutor Jeff Ashton was unusually roused in his objection, arguing Baez's questions were irrelevant and not in good faith.

Judge Perry commented on Ashton's tone, telling all the attorneys they did not need to raise their voices. He had Baez revise his question, but Seuter ultimately testified in front of the jury that tests showed Lee Anthony was not Caylee's father.

During cross-examination, Seubert clarified that her analysis only tested for blood, and would not show whether there was any decomposition fluid present.

Must there be an excuse for me to believe Casey Anthony got away with murder? That is my opinion, & I don't think it likely that opinion will change any time soon.

Incidentally, what's with the trademark symbol after Casey's name? Her name is not trademarked. Have you made a business linked to her name? Are you the one who trademarked her name? There is no reason for you to use that symbol in conjunction with her name.

A tamer Caylee's Law
February 23, 2012 06:19:05 PM

Now that public passions over the Casey Anthony trial have cooled, lawmakers are taking a more sober look at legislation that was proposed immediately after she was acquitted last July of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

<snip>

Under current Florida law, it’s a first-degree misdemeanor to knowingly and willfully give false information to a law enforcement officer who is conducting a missing person investigation or a felony criminal investigation with the intent to mislead the officer or impede the investigation. House Bill 37 (and a similar measure in the Senate) would make it a third-degree felony for parents or guardians who lie to law enforcement officials during an investigation when a child under age 16 is missing, dies or is seriously injured.

Why carve out an exception for children of a certain age? Why not just increase penalties for lying to police — period? Apparently, lawmakers are intent on crafting some kind of symbolic response to the Anthony trial. This one at least makes the least mischief.
