Leonard, I just wanted you to know that you are totally off base. We did this because we felt led to help, and because we care about them. I am a “plain Jane down the street” and LHS Band members and friends didn’t hesitate to reach out to us when my family and I needed it, too. Don’t be so quick to think negatively! This is a group of genuinely good people with big hearts, no strings attached, and no prejudices. Leonard wrote: I know this is suppose to be a feel good story. But,I get the distinct impression that if this young lady were not a popular cheerleader in the school and pretty this event would not have taken place. If she was just some plain Jane in a run down house you would not have cared.Just my opinion.

What a wonderful story if one is feeling a bit bad about the human race lately. Random acts of kindness do as much and more for the givers as for the receivers. Nice going to all that participated!!

Does that really matter even if it were the case (it isn;t)? Something wonderful took place and I thank God for giving a ray of light in the darkness that surrounds Orlando. Please don't take away from these people the goodness they shared from their own hearts.

Wonder what the world would be like if *more* stories like this made the news? Maybe we wouldn't have to ration it to stay sane and hopeful ...

For Leonard...it's people like you that make kids not want to help others. Come on, give these kids the praise and kudos they deserve.

How wonderful for the teens to band together to help a friend. It is so refreshing to hear about the wonderful things kids do and not all the bad stuff. It shows that there are tons of wonderful kids out there. Blessings to all the Band Aids.

YES, three cheers, ten cheers both to the people who helped and to the Sentinel for giving great things the good exposure they need... Sentinel, do you hear us all calling for more sensational good things?!? I'd subscribe if there were more stories like this and less space for the ridiculous.

Makes me so proud to say my son is a Lyman band alumni. What a GREAT bunch of kids. We need more stories such as this one. It's nice to hear something good that kids do instead of all the bad. No band geeks here, our son went on to be a Marine and later a New York Para Medic. Lyman puts out some great kids.

What a great story. I live around the corner and I was wondering what was going on. I'm so happy that the people in my community are reaching out to each other. My son will go to Lyman next year and I couldn't be happier about the level of charachter those kids and their parents are showing.
