What a sad joke Disney has become. You want people to come to your "House"........ then you LOWER the entry price$. How ridiculous, and disgusting to know that you give $50 Million dollars to your CEO, and raise your entry fee to average Citizens. Then you offer "buy-outs" (Golden Parachutes), to undeserving White Collar workers, with the Threat that if there are too few acceptors of this buy-out then you will begin Lay-offs. We all know that means that the (blue-collar) people who make $8 -$10 dollars an hour will be the first to go. The people that you went to Puerto Rico, or other lands to entice them to come here, may have to file for unemployment, due to your extragravant payments to an exagerated position of CEO. Give him $4 to 5 Million, and keep at least 200-300 good hard-working people employed with that other $45 Million. What a Disgrace Disney has become!!

Definately, they need to lower entry prices. I'm coming down for vacation in February but will bypass Disney as they are not offering any deals to get into the parks, it's not like they don't make a bundle off you once you get into the park. I usually buy 4 5-day passes for me and the kids but can't afford the $900 for tickets ths year, so sad.

If it wasn't so expensive to fly to Florida, we would be at Disney World right now!

Shame they reduced showing Fantasmic! to twice a week, it's a great show! I definitely will plan to go to WDW when they are showing it!

Now that Disney is hurting, who is going to help pay for the Venue. You got to love your leaders in Orlando and Orange County. They try sticking it to the tourist to pay for everything. Now the tourist are not coming, who do you think is going to pay for your Venue now. The Magic, I think not. It is going to be the taxpayers of Orange County and the city of Orlando.

...Until things turn around.
And then what? Will you give them permission to raise their prices back up? or will you then accuse them of profit-gouging?
They're a *business*. They're in the business of making money. Get that and get it straight. They're not in business of making sure everybody can go. Nobody has a *right* to go to Disney. Disney isn't obligated to make sure everybody can afford it.
They're in the business of making money - just like every other business in the country. The decisions they make are designed ot make sure they make money, not to make sure everybody can attend.
Why is that so difficult for people to understand?

We are on the same page here. I am thinking, what, he can't get by on like $5 or $10 million? Its amazing how these bigwigs can sleep at night, knowing the economy is in the sh*tter and they are still getting over-inflated salaries. I personally think things are so bad because of corp. greed in the first place. In the end, Disney is no different than any other company, its just wearing a cuter outfit.

A word about buyouts. If offered one, take it - it's the best deal you'll be offered. They will only get worse later...

Why can't they take Iger's huge robbery of the Disney Treasury and let these people all keep their jobs? Are you trying to tell us that this one piece of dog squeeze is more important to keep than all these other men with families to feed and bills to pay ?

First of all, they're not all men. Secondly, the buy-out won't leave them broke and hungry. They'll be fine for a very long time. Iger's role is very important in a company as big as Disney. You need to stop worrying about how much CEOs make. Huge companies need leadership and they need to be compensated for the huge headache that goes along with that responsibility. Get over it.

I was all ready to get on here and give my viewpoint, but you did it for me, great post and I agree 100% with everything you said. I have not paid to go to Disney in over 8 years and I would not go if I had to pay!! Can't afford to take my family of 4 on Florida salary!!

I guess "banking exec" is the prime insult these days in a climate where profit automatically means greed.

LOL, they are a business BUT in this economy if they are looking to make money they need to start cutting cost, not their employees salary but the cost to get in or no one will be able to afford to go so that means this business won't be making money!!

It's time to muster all your resources and energies and push through to the next level. The harmony between Mars and Saturn will support your efforts. If you need to dig deeper into shared resources or your credit facilities, now's the time to do so. With careful planning and perhaps family support, you can consolidate and somehow find greater security. This is a calculation not a risk though.
