Unfortunately, the beautiful spring bulbs that are traditional up north, crocuses, tulips and daffs, require a cold period in order to bloom.:(

They be quite comfortable with all the beer we never drink. Crocus are supposed to have a hardiness of 9, but there wasn't any mention about forcing them to bloom.

Second, invite me over and I'll be glad to make some extra room in you garage fridge by (responsibly) consuming your beer. After I've planted my butt, of course.

I had wonderful bulb gardens up north. The crocus is usually the first one to poke its head up, sometimes through the snow. A welcome harbinger of spring after a long nasty winter! I miss them, and lilacs!

A welcome harbinger of spring after a long nasty winter! I miss them, and lilacs! After a few years of hard freezes, I put in bulbs, rhizomes and tubers. I had enough amaryllis lillies to go around the entire border at the new house. I couldn't dig all my bulbs up, couldn't find alot, so I'm having to buy them again. I have more shade here, so that's a challenge. I love gardening. I'm waiting for my rib fx to heal then I'll be back out there.

I do a lot of container flowers and put big pots of seasonal flowers around the pool and the rest of the back yard. In the front I stick with things that come back if they freeze. I too love gardening, it's therapy for me. Playing in the dirt always makes me feel better when things aren't going quite right!

I'm looking for trillium but not sure what color I want. I like container gardening too. I had a really colorful Tropicana Canna that I mixed with a Persian Plant and red Verbana. Added annuals to the mix for a change. Adding some dwarf daylillies to the border. I bought 3 lbs of mixed Caladiums. And I have about 20 very large Giant Red Canna rhizomes. Waiting for lilly bulbs. We have some plants in pool waterfali'm not putting many plants back there. Gets the deck to dirty. I had a lot of perennials at the old house that I left. I bought 2 Oakleaf hydrangeas. Very hardy. Didn't have to keep all that crap for making sure the blooms don't loose their colors. I guess you can tell I love gardening too. It is very theraputic.

I LOVE hydrangeas but never got the knack of all that messing around to keep them the color I wanted. It's been so dang cold at night lately that I haven't done much with the yard in a while, but I'm getting the urge just from this thread!! Maybe this weekend! Oh, and I hope your ribs heal soon, busted ribs HURT!

Wal-Mart sells top soil in forty (40) pound bags, but I just wanted some plain ole dirt. Like maybe a truck load or two for a new flower bed/boxes I built doing some land-scaping.
