Magic go cold in L.A., lose Game 1

bad game thats all our team was lost tonight but i tell the laker fans be ready for game 2 because magic will be out looking

Ok now please allow me to be the voice of reason in here as usual.

Folks we are looking at a clean sweep here. Kobe Bryant simply WILL NOT and I repeat WILL NOT be denied a championship this year. Did you all see the demon like look on his face tonight? Clearly he was playing like a man who was possessed out there.

It's simple really folks. It is 1995 all over again. One team (Lakers) is playing like they WANT IT. The other team (Magic) is playing like they are just happy to be here. Exactly like 1995 for sure folks.

NO DOUBT at all whatsoever that the Lakers WILL win this series. Even a 4 year old can make that prediction. The only question that remains is will the Magic atleast win 1 game in this series ?

Some interesting things happened in game 1.

When Howard goes out with 2 fouls, they bring in Gortat. Battie replaces Lewis to get more defense, because Gasol was posting up and killing Rashard. Nelson comes in and the Magic start to kill the Lakers with penetration, going up 5.

In response, Jackson brings in Walton who gets to post up the smaller Lee. L.A. gets hot and goes up by 5. SVG calls a timeout, but they get further behind and calls another timeout about two minutes later.

The question is, what happened in the third quarter? Kobe was on fire, but Orlando's big three didn't do much. How much is it bad shooting, and how much was it good defense?

Orlando is too good a team to get blown out. However, the Lakers are much better offensively than Cleveland and Boston, so it will be much tougher to come back from a big deficit.

Orlando will come back strong on Sunday. This will be the key game of the series for both teams as it is very difficult to sweep the middle three games. If L.A. wins, it puts tremendous pressure on the Magic to shoot 3's well for three games in a row, so I don't think the odds will be in their favor.

If Orlando wins game 2, this series may go 7.

There is still a long way to go.

Clearly the Jameer Nelson return had a lot to do with this loss tonight. It is like learning how to play with a new player all over again out there.

The team seemed to not have that same level of confidence out there that they had with Rafer and Anthony Johnson running things.

Missed everything, even the ones that went in came back out.

I don't see Jameer being an issue. We get happy happy bouncy bouncy rainbow miss with Alston and the missed shots from the stripe back to back. He did great filling in, but Nelson's C game I'd take over Alston. Just for the factor of being able to run a play, settle things down, and make some really nice passes. His height got him blocked a couple times tonight, so he's gotta keep that in mind, no late releases. Quick decisions shoot or pass in the paint.

I hope this isn't 1995 all over again. Magic got beat in all aspects of the game tonight. Quite unnerving to be honest. They couldn't hit the broad side of a barn tonight. Hope they just had a bad game and they can rebound from this, but if they don't stop Kobe it's over.

Back in the good old days when Kobe Bryant returned to the game midway in the 4th quarter of a blowout he would have found himself somewhere in the 4th row behind the basket picking up pieces of himself.

What a disgrace to return to a game that has clearly already been decided. Then on top of that somebody on the Lakers took a 3 pointer with about 1 second to go in the game and he made the shot. What horrendous sportsmanship. Once again, this is where I wish there would be a guy like Charles Oakley that could take out all the trash if you know what I mean.

The open looks to Peitrus and Lewis and Hedo were not intentional. Rafer Alston was being left open intentionally. They will continue to leave him open until he starts making those shots if he starts making those shots. This is the first series gets to rest on defense. He doesn't have to guard anyone so he will be fresh the whole series. See what happens when you chase Lewis and Peitrus of the 3pt line and make them show they average one direction dribbling skills and horrible mid range jumpers? I see Lewis has no left hand. That layup bounced off the back board pretty hard.

The Magic had the size advantage against the Cavs but in this series its the Magic who are the midgets. Will someone throw in the towel for Lee guarding Kobe? Take the kid out of his misery. Oh Pietrus? You looked like the same guy Kobe used to abuse when you was with the Warriors.

Thats 24 not 23 Pietrus. He does have a midrange and 3pt shot and can make tough shots on a regular basis. Magic can make some small adjustments but Lewis is not going to grow in 2 weeks. You know you have a small line up when Luke Walton is posting up lol.
