UCF's Incubation Program Sets Sights on Second Stage "Economic Gardening"
Profits measure success for a business owner, but communities measure business success differently---by employment and wage levels, by taxes generated, by rates of business growth.
That factor---business growth---is getting a lot more attention these days as local communities struggle to generate economic development in an era of dwindling resources.
What?? Business incubators... what kind of SB is that when there are so many truly small businesses just in our Metro area that the Small Business Administration doesn't see fit to help. Constantly throughout their recent history, their idea of a small business is one with over a million dollars, not the average small business that barely has even a couple hundred thousand dollars to their name. These businesses are constantly passed over by the cohorts of the 'SBA'. All of these mismanagers complain that there are dwindling resources, while they could be helping a larger number of what really are small businesses instead of the traditional in bed financing for already successful businesses.

The UCF Technology Incubator is not in connected to the SBA. They accept companies that are technology oriented, have a commercially viable product or are developing one, show potential for job creation and plan to stay in Central Florida. www.incubator.ucf.edu
