Officer who is suing family of boy placed on leave

I am a police sgt in Florida and that Sgt is a s/c/u/m/b/a/g. She needs her a/s/s/ kicked. She also needs to file a suit on her city for interfering with her right to sue, even if she is a s/c/u/m/b/a/g for the suit.

actually maybe she got what she wanted, to show an injustice, why has no one been held accountable for what happened to this baby.....

someone(s) should be charged with child abuse/neglect.......

left with mother who was known not to be responsible......

what happened to this child was done by the family....

and no she should not follow through on suing and yes their home owners insurance should pick up what ever expenses workman's comp has not paid......

shame on everyone involved.....

I want to compliment everyone everywhere for voicing their opinion in getting that cop to stop her nonsense and removed from the force. Maybe the lawyer can get thrown out too. This is the best example of power by the people I've seen in a long time. We all made a difference.

I think the one with brain damage was this broad. If she is allowed to stay on in the department, then I'm afraid the malady may have been contagious.

Thats the power of the people. We all got outraged and the negative publicity that this generated caused the pig to drop the suit. It even caused her to be put on leave. Also all her friends and family will know what a pariah she is.

Who proofs these arcticles? The first sentence is atrocious.....

Come on. Do you really believe that the cop was not after money and was just being noble in an attempt to get some kind of "justice" for the baby? That's the kind of ridiculous argument a lawyer might make.

She should be fired! This is an example of someone who has not the common sense to understand that when she took the job there were risks that she also assumed. I still can't figure out why she would be so blatantly unfeeling towards this family. To blame them for her injury.. insanity. Perhaps she should have been more careful. It's funny how quickly this gets dropped when it makes national news. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Cosmillo family.

I have worked with, and known Andrea for a number of years. I can no longer remain silent.Andrea may've "wrestled" a box of razor blades from someone, but what Casselberry P.D. isn't telling the press is how during an attempt to take subdue another person, she handcuffed an officer who was assisting her. This was on another call, but it actually happened. That's not all. Casselberry is slow to release her public record, because it's also full of negative stuff as well. Several years back, she was investigated for fraud and forgery by the F.D.L.E. for forging officers names to collect money on an off duty detail. The detail was a cash payout, and required officer signature for the company's tax records. She was signing other names so she wouldn't have to claim the payout on HER taxes. THIS IS PUBLIC RECORD!!!!!
There was also the time a bank was robbed while she was working there on an off duty detail. Because of her laziness, she was unaware that the bank was being robbed, and it wasn't until a citizen attempted to subdue the robber that she realized what was going on.
Or, how about the squad memo she wrote, DIRECTING her squad to write a specific and large number of tickets, or face disciplinary action, thus creating an illegal quota. Once the memo was made public to the other squads, it was quickly recanted and hidden away.
How about her inter-department sexual liasons? Although never made public, she was known for being sexually involved with people who could further her career. She was caught having sex with an officer on the back of her patrol car which was parked in a lot off of Murphy road. This was never investigated, and was swept under the rug. While having an alleged affiar with the a Deputy Chief, she was promoted to Sgt. Was she the most qualified? Absolutley not, dating the Dept. Chief doeshave it's benefits. She started daing her current husband while he was still married( and had just had a baby ). By the way, she was still married as well. She is not a good officer, nor is she well liked at the department. Most people try to stay away from her.
Ask yourself this....Why was a Sgt, in the Investigation Division( which does NOT answer patrol calls ) at the Cosmillo home? Was she dispatched to the call, even though she's considered secondary to the patrol officers. What I mean, is that for her to be dispatched to that call, ALL roadway patrol officers, ALL traffic officers, and community service officers would have to be unavailable. So, that would mean somewhere between 10 and 20 other people, who would normally answer that call would have to be unavailable. Let's not forget that Paramedics were ALREADY on scene. So, was that the case, OR did she decide to go on her own? Dispatch logs are public record and should be investigated. If she went on her own, there was NO reason for her to be on scene. Following her lawyers logic of if the family had secured the pool area, there would've never been a puddle, if Andrea had not taken it upon herself to go the house, she would not have fallen. I urge anyone who wants to know more about her, to request her record of service from the City of Casselberry. It's ALL public record, and you have the RIGHT to see it. Don't take my word for it, see it for yourself."

She deserved payment from the homeowners' insurance. Simple as that.

That was a confusing post. You seem to be criticizing her for being so law suit happy, but then suggest she should file another frivilous law suit against her agency? I think she should let the entire thing go and hope she doesn't get demoted (or fired) for embarrassing her agency.

Can we also remove her attorney from duty?

This lawyer Heil was quoted in a previous article as stating:

"It's a situation where the Cosmillos have caused these problems, brought them on themselves, then tried to play the victim," he said.

They don't have to play victim. They ARE victims. It is apparent that they grieve every day over what has happened to this child.

In my opinion, more public wrath should be aimed at this lawyer. What a disgusting spectacle. I would like to think that he will suffer some financial losses due to the massive negative publicity affecting his business, but I doubt it. Lawyers get paid to make outlandish claims with a straight face. Who knows - maybe this will help him, as he got free nationwide publicity.
