Surprise! Kinson is a turncoat in Maitland, just like Kip Marchman was in Winter Park. Both were elected Mayor of their respective cities on platforms of protecting the character of those cities, and both turned traitor to their constituents and switched allegiance to developers once elected. W.P. finally voted Marchman out of office. What will Maitland do wiith their disloyal mayor? Better move fast or you might end up with a mess like W.P.'s Carlisle.

What CHARACTER!?! Exactly what character would Maitland be protecting? Maitland has no character. It's as bland a suburb as you can find. You can argue finances, et al regarding this project. But protecting character.... what a joke.

I am proud that our Mayor Doug Kinson is not a puppet on a string to whoever those 30-40 people are who rallied behind him in order to get him elected.

Bravo Mayor Kinson....I applaud your desires and efforts to remain open minded while purposing to make informed and wise decisions for our city and it's future.

We need a vibrant DownTown in order to complete the off balance character of our city's environment. Our community almost has it all...lakes, culture, ideal location, money - but without a true social/retail community common area Maitland will remain sorely lopsided.

And what a shame that would be.

Ann is right we almost have a real community, we have the chance to have it, so let's do it and stop waisting time. Brossier has a beautiful project planned and he's putting in so much time and money and heart for us and all these old people do is complain!!!! Get with it and let us have a real maitland, not a "nicer" casselberry. That's what we look like right now, it's casselberry, only with a bunch of banks.... HELLO! we need some real character and social areas to get together in to have a real community. STOP stopping progress, especially progress that is so thoughtfully put together by a man who truly cares about our city (Brossier)!

While I agree that no elected official should be a puppet of any one group, it bears consideration that within eighteen months the Mayor has done a complete flip flop on what was perceived as a critical issue of his campaign. I recall his mayoral opponent stating that he wanted "No more than four" stories in Maitland and Doug criticized it for being "too dense and tall".

Bear in mind that if he rolled over on the people that helped get him elected then undoudtedly he will rollover again. The only questions are when and who he will roll over on.

Regarding your comment that he remains "open minded", nothing could be farter from the truth. His vote appears locked in the yes position for the Brossier project even though there are numerous unanswered questions regarding the financing and long term impacts to our community.

I would urge you to read the proposed development agreement before endorsing it as the plan that Maitland needs to adopt.
