What's your favorite movie? Can I list them by genre? How about if a classic or recent? I'm going to have to think on this. This is going to be a fun thread but posters should put WHY it is their favorite too.

Favorite classic comedy would have to be a tie, A Night at the Opera and Bringing Up Baby. Both have some great lines and are timeless.

The films were beautifully acted, faithful to Mario Puzo's book, every detail of the different time periods perfect. Brutal to watch, yes, but the scenes where Michael Corleone is the godfather for his nephew at the baptism are supreme irony. The camera cuts back & forth to Michael in the church, renouncing Satan as part of the ritual, and the bloody, savage war between the Mafia families initiated by Michael himself.

Favorite classic comedy is 'A Night at the Opera.' Funniest movie ever made. Although 'Bringing Up Baby' is hilarious too. Who were better together than Hepburn & the gorgeous Grant?

Tombstone ---Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp. And Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. Just love the lines and Kurt is so easy on the eyes. Favorite line is "Why, Johnny Ringo. You look like someone just walked over your grave."

The Gofather movies are great. Whenever they reshow them on tv we stop everything to watch them. We have them on dvd, I don't know why we put up the commercials. I love the Cuba scenes in part II where Michael realizes it was Fredo that betrayed him and then when he tells him he knows. Al Pacino can convey so much with just a look.

I do the same thing when the Godfather movies are on TV, & I have them on DVD too. I think it's just so compelling that you gotta watch it. I never, ever get tired of it. Pacino is such a fine actor, but I don't understand why he & deNiro went so commercial, appearing in anything that delivered a hefty paycheck. I mean,'Devil's Advocate' and 'Meet the Fockers'? They done sold out!
