Great idea. Amazing in fact.

Can't afford it though. The US is bankrupt and digging deeper towards complete insolvency.

Spend, spend, spend, spend, spend, spend, spend is all the government knows how to do.

I guess you guys haven't read the article, or heard Newt discuss the issue.

He's proposing a 5% government stake, with 95% coming from private investment.

So it may not be lunacy.

Unlike Newt's candidate....

Kool.
We all get along so well and are so peaceful on this planet, we need to duplicate the amazing results on the moon and Mars to mine & pollute & colonize. Can't wait till China & Russia stake a claim & build bases & mine on the moon too....we do have working laser weapons...right? So, what's the problem?

Private business in bed with the gov can get gov grants & multi billion $$$ contracts (from tax money) to build bases for the (trained armed forces) selected few to inhabit & protect.

Now why didn't anyone think of this before? Rallied the country in the 60's. Great diversion. What an ingenious plan and foresight.

* NASA made plans back in 09/2005 to return to the Moon by 2018, Bush touted the same in 01/2004. Gingrich is only mimicking their dream and setting another U.S. goal. An achievement that would serve to further scientific advancements and benefit the military as well.

I guess you missed the part where private investments/ors would supply the majority of the financing for the future space program. Dammed sure we really need to spending large amounts of monies studying a shrimp on a treadmill as well as a multitude of other pork barrel projects of the kind, right.

Marvelous! Then Newt won't need to be President to see this through.

Of course I'd like him to be the Republican nominee. Just not President.

Man oh man, Newt _really_ wants to get rid of his first two wives.

Let us understand that it would be much cheaper in the long run to build our spaceships, space factories, and space farm or parts thereof on the moon. With 1/6 the gravity of Terra the costs would be overwhelmingly cheaper. We must move into space to survive has a people. The entire STS program only cost $192 billion. That's 30 years of a program that changed the way we live forever. Without the space program most everything we now take for granted would not exist.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aquarius

You won't like it if you feel your wings are being clipped today. You want to do something in particular, only to discover that someone is objecting to your plans or that circumstances beyond your control are standing in your way. Although your instincts tell you to throw a tantrum to get your point across, you must ask yourself what this will achieve, and whether it will actually be self-defeating.
