As a Orland tax payer, why are we trying to take land from Mokena?

We have enough of our own problems.

I agree, doesn't the fire department have enough problems with guys arrested with child porn on his computer? Guys lying that they are over in Iraq fighting and milking the gov. and the dept out of thousands of dollar? Guys arrested for drunk driving? The chief parking in hadicapped spots and then his own guys taking picture's and sending them to the paper? Having millions of dollars that we can't explain what we are going to do with? A maint. dept. that does nothing most of the day and just drive around in dept. units and get paid for the entire day? A union president and board member buying buildings together? WOW, if the taxpayers knew all this was going on maybe the dept. does have many problems but just keep trying to brush it under the rug and not tell anybody. I even heard the the new chief is hated more by his guys then when he was a Lt. Is that true also? I sure hope the get their head out of their ass and start running the dept. like it should be ran.

The porn guy is long gone. The fake soldier is gone. The FD recouped that money. One of each not numerous guys doing illegal things. Nobody has been arrested for drunk driving. The maintenance guys are up to their necks in work. Orland has a GIANT fleet. Not to mention all the power equipment that the maint guys are responsible for.
Unless you are familiar with the department you would not understand the scope of the size of the department.
Is the union president and board president buying buildings together ? yes. It is questionable? Absolutely. Is the chief hated by many? sure. Does the problems Orland have differ from the amount of problems any large suburban department has? No. Is there money not accounted for? Probably. Does Cook County or the City of Chicago not account for every dollar? You bet.

Lets say the percentage of jerks on a fire department is 10%. If Orland has 120 personnel they would have about 12 jerks. If fire department ABC has 65 personnal they would have 6.5 jerks. Sure way less than Orland but the percentage is the same.
If you don't like the way the FD is running vote next time and remove incumbent board members.

You hit it on the head except you didn't mention their call volume. An extremely busy suburban department. Not alot of fires but alot of ambulance calls, alot of area to cover, alot of people to cover, and no hospital in town. Similar to a Joliet ( alot more fires 2 hospitals in town) or an Oak Lawn (similar call volume but 1 hosp in town and Little Company real close too.)

Just as busy as other departments their size. Their nothing special.
