If anyone would have any information about my father and step-mother's murder, please call LaGrange County Sheriff's office. It's going on 9 months since they were murdered and I miss my dad so very much. My son deserves to have answers why his grandpa was taken away from him at a young age. We all deserve answers and someone/people need to pay the price for taking them away.

Sorry - the murder took place in Mongo Indiana. I was searching on Mongo local stories and came onto this forum and assumed it was local - but maybe someone might know something.

I am Terry and Darleen's youngest daughter. I am the one who had to discover the hossific, unhuman, aftermath of what the killer or killers left behind in the very home that I grew up in my entire life. Words cannot describe the image that is forever imprinted in my memory of the sight of my mother, to whom I was very close to dead, severely massacured on our living room couch. I want answers... Why, who, and how?! Every day of my life I am in undescribeable pain over the loss of my dear parents. I miss them so much that sometimes its hard for me to even desire to be alive, but I know that they would only want the best for me, so I push on... I am in constant fear every day that maybe the killers or killer might even come back for me and my loved ones. I no longer have the privelige of living with the warmth that the feeling of safety brings to a person. Only the fear and pain remain. There are so many mysteries revolving around this event that it makes me physically sick. To top it off, not a single question has been answered. I prey to God that this mystery will someday be solved. I want justice for my parents. Whoever could have done such a horrific crime to two innocent and loving people cannot be human. In my eyes, they are the very essence of the Devil. My life and the lives of all that loved my parents have been shattered by this. God have mercy and please bring justice to this tragedy that should never have occured. I want my parents souls to be able to rest in peace, but fear that maybe they cant until this is brought to justice. Please, help us end this...

My condolences for your horrific loss.

I see Sherry, another of their daughters and the person who posted above, I am assuming, has started a foundation to help solve their murders and even offer a reward if it is solved. Have you been involved in that effort at all?

Do the police have ANY leads, so far?

I will pray for justice.

I have not, and will not for many reasons that unfortunately I cannot disclose. Although one reason is that Sherry's husband called me on my cell and left a disturbing message telling me he believes that I did this or had something to do with it. After a comment like that, I cannot see myself contributing to anything that would go into an account of his. Also I have paid all expences that my parents had left and also the whole funeral costs and the cost of the headstone that is being made and to be ready for the spring or so. They have not helped me. But, do not get me wrong, I don't hold that against them, because I did not ask for any monetary help, I feel OK doing it on my own. Additionally, Sherry has not been cruel to me with rude comments, only her husband has. I hold no harshness towards her because of what he did.

The police have not told me of any leads as of yet. They have been keeping quiet about the whole thing, more or less keeping to themselves. I sure hope and prey to God that they can bring who did this to justice.

Wow, it's so sad when the stress of such a horrific crime seems to come between family members. It does seem cruel to accuse you of the murder right after you went through the trauma of finding them.:-(

Maybe you and Sherry can at least work together to get more publicity about the crime someday, if it isn't solved soon. There have been rumors going around that the recent publicity has produced some new leads and the police may be significantly narrowing down their list of suspects. I truly hope so, for your sake, so that you can feel safe again, and so that your parents can rest in peace, finally!

Do you think your parents knew their killers or was it simply a robbery? It sounds so brutal, you'd have to think there was a lot of rage involved, making it seem more personal. Any theories?

I continue to pray for you and the entire family, that there may be justice soon. That would be the best Christmas present you could hope for!

I do believe that it was not a robbery. I think that my parents knew whoever it was that killed them. If it was just a robbery gone wrong, so many other things that were worth a lot more in value could have been stolen. Only a few things of not large value were taken. I think it was someone who had held a grudge against my parents, and that they tried to make it LOOK like a robbery. I just wish they would have told me more about their past before they died. Maybe I might be able to think of someone that had hated them, but I can't. They never spoke much of the past... Iv'e been trying to dig into their past myself through old papers and other such things to try to find maybe something, but all I come up with is just one theory on top of another. I just end up getting more confused the deeper I go. I have found that I did not know as much about them as I thought.

Wow, that must be distressing to suddenly be finding out you didn't know as much about your own parents as you thought you once did.:-(

I remember the media stories saying your dad used to play Santa Claus, is that true? If so that must make this time of year that much harder. Poor gal.*hugs*

Maybe if you posted some of the items that were stolen, someone might recognize them and can start a trail to whomever took them. Worth a shot, maybe.

I also remember a newspaper article where someone (you, maybe?) said they were going to renovate the house because that's what your parents wanted done, I am curious if that ever got accomplished? That would be pretty cool to do that in their memory, is why I ask.

PS; You must get to travel alot, your posts are from 3 different cities, lol.

Dad didn't really play Santa Claus, but he did look just like him! Little kids that seen him like in a store or something used to ask him if he was Santa and would tell him what they wanted for Christmas.

We have actually posted the items stolen just about everywhere in the area in local gas stations and such. They are all still there for the most part. We haven't got any leads from them yet though.

Yes, actually I have been completely redoing the whole house. I just had a whole new roof and siding put on, and new garage doors put on the pole barn where dad had not had the time or chance to install them. So far in the living room I have put in new carpet. There are still many more things I'm in the process of doing. One of which is the new windows I'm going to have installed in the spring for the entire house. By the time I'm finished, the house will be virtually brand new.

Amanda it has to be hard for you at Christmas time. I am so sorry you lost both of your parrents the way you did. I was browsing for a different case with a name that was close to your mothers name. I found this and I feel so sad for you. I hope you have love and support to get through the pain.

Thanks for your support Michael. Our family is truly in need of all the prayers and support that anyone can offer. I am the eldest daughter of Terry Anderson and my brother Rick and I have been very busy searching every possible avenue to use in hopes of getting the information out to the public about our father and step-mother's murder. I have rented billboards in their hometown with their picture/web-site posted along with interviews by local TV and newspapers. Also my up-teen emails and letters I send to talkshows and crime shows in hopes of obtaining 30seconds of airtime. Someone knows something and I/we will not stop until this case is solved. All efforts are done in hopes of keeping the case open and maybe providing a lead for the sheriff. Might I ask how you came across this forum? I see you were in search of another crime with the same name. Did you know that person whom you where searching for? At any rate, The Anderson Family truly respects your concerns and prayers. I believe that justice will prevail and we will have closure. My 3 1/2 yr old son looks at his grandfather's pictures and asks if we can go see him. I don't know how I can explain to him that his grandfather was murdered at his young age. It's still very hard for me to understand. I miss my dad very much every single day. There is not a day that does not pass that I have not either looked at his cell phone number still programed on my phone or looked at the newspaper clippings and said to myself that it's all bad dream.

Visit the web-site often and watch for updates. It's still in the updating stages.

Is there any chance of you and your half-sister Amanda reconciling enough to work TOGETHER on solving this case? It would be SO much more effective that way. Maybe your husband can apologize for accusing her of the crime for starters? Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Hi Sherry. I don't know you or your family, but I am praying for all of you. I can't imagine what you all go through on a daily basis--not knowing why your Dad and Step Mom were murdered and who did it. And, it is sad that your little one will not grow up knowing them.

Actually, I was doing a search originally on another case. Her name was also Darlene Anderson, and she was from RoundRock, TX. Technically her murder was never solved. But, Roger Fain was concivted of murdering Sandra Dumont after Darlene's disappearance. Sandra and Darlene's bodies were found together on the same day, yards apart in a large field with debris intentionally covering them in the same way. Somehow there was never enough evidence to convict Fain for Darlene's murder. Recently, Fain's DNA came up as a match for another brutal murder. I was checking for updates on that case when I found yours. I did not know that Darlene Anderson. I was called out to search with my canine SAR dog. That was my involvement. I cared about each and every person I searched for though. Her name as are others I have searched for are permanently etched in my heart.

Please keep us posted Sherry. I will keep checking your site for updates too.

Thanks Michael for your prayers.

Seeing the news these past few days with Shawn Hornbeck being found alive keeps my faith that someone will pay for killing my father and step-mother. Faith. Have to keep faith and justice will show it's face - I truly believe that.

The story you were searching for and found this forum is a very sad story. My heart hurts for Sandra and Darleen's families. I know first hand what they are going thru. That case is also a 'cold case' due to lack of evidence. My father's case is in that same situation - not enough evidence. I think the sheriff has an idea/theory (not telling anyone) but lack the hard stuff to put someone away for life - or my preference the death penalty. I have seen many cases that have convictions based on circumstantial evidence and motive - even without the hard evidence.

It's a very sad world we live in. How can a killer/s wake up in the morning, go into work and/or kiss their family members and not have any feelings for what they/he/she did. Close their eyes and see the monster that they/he/she are/is. If the killer/s had feelings and or/remorse for what happend, this case would be closed. Sad.

I pray everyday. I believe in justice.

Great! You are back Sherry! Ever since I found this story and learned what happened to your family, I have held you all in my heart and in my prayers. I check here almost every day to see if you or anyone else has posted.

How bizarre that there are two separate Darlene Anderson murders, and both are unsolved. What are the chances?

Are there any updates on why your family was killed? Have you heard from LE? Is there anything I can do to help you besides praying? I am here if you need me.

How many children do they have? How many grandchildren do they have? I think it is so sad that the grandchildren will not be growing up with their grandparents loving presence. I hope you have good video and pictures to show them. i guess you will become a great story teller too.

My heart goes out to you and your family, and if there is anything I can do please let me know. I will continue to check here for updates and new posts.

Sorry for the delay Michael. My days get so busy that my personal issues normally do not get the attention needed.
No news from LE. Last weekend -(13Jan) was a difficult time for me and my husband. It was the yearly Musky Show at Harper College in Naperville Illinois. Dad would never miss it. For about 15yrs Dad would come to my place for the weekend. Darleen, Amanda and I would venture to the shopping malls or antique shops while Dad and my husband would spend the morning at the show. Dad insisted on being the first person in line so he can obtain the coffee mugs they gave to the first 50 people. Well... my husband went and took his friend Jeff to the show. My Husband and wore my dad's personalized jacket (says Top Water Terry-Mongo Indiana colored-stitched on the back with a big musky)and pictures and web-site flyers. Many people stopped and spoke to him. Wished the family peace and closure. Very ROUGH week/weekend. I expected Dad to be pulling up in the drive that friday evening and we would all eat pizza that night. Dad never had good pizza where he lived. Chicago offers the best pizza pies in town and we would make sure one was ordered when they visited.
It's the small things that continue to haunt me.
Dad had 5 grandsons. I have one child and my brother Rick has 4 boys. Their ages range from 19yrs down to 4yrs. Each and everyone of these boys will forever question why someone would take their grandfather and step-grandmother away from them - and in the horrible manner that they were taken. How do you tell children that? Darleen did not have any grandchildren. Her/their only daughter Amanda had not yet been married or had children before their murders. I do not know if she has since - but it does not matter since they are both been murdered and are dead - gone forever. They are no longer around to admire, hug or kiss their children or grandchildren. I have a few videos and plenty of pictures. I watched one video for the first time on my birthday in dec. It took alot to see my dad all healthy and ALIVE. It's a different feeling with snapshots than video.
Michael - the only other help I could use is to send emails to every possible talk=show or radio personallity in hopes to get TV coverage and/or the public to know and remember. Try and get anyone to listen and help. I just can't let my dad and step-mother's murders become unsolved. I promised them that I will continue to work this until it's solved. I promised them and I will not go back on that promise. I think if I can get America's Most Wanted to make a show about their murders, maybe there might be someone willing to talk. I think there is someone out there who knows. It will come out in the open someday. I believe that Michael.
Keep the faith and thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. We are strangers and I respect the thoughtfulness you offer. There are special people in this world and you are one of them for your kindness.

Hi Sherry. I hope you are doing okay. Have the investigators made any progress in solving your parents' murder? I have never had a loved family murdered, and I can only imagine what you go through each and every day. You sound like a loving, good person, and you are so committed to your Dad and step mom. I bet they are looking down on you smiling with love in their hearts.

I think it is a great idea to try and get your dad and and Darlene's murder on Americas Most Wanted. Is there anything I can do? Can I write a letter to them requesting it? Do you think if I asked everyone I knew to write to AMW it may help? I can if you like.

Have you asked every family member, friend, co-worker, neighbor, and anyone who will listen if they will also write a letter to AMW? I'm thinking that the more people that write letters, the likely AMW will at least look into this.

I hope you have a support system of family and friends to be there with you through your pain and grieving. It may not seem like much now; but, it is good that you have video and pictures of your Dad and step mom. You may come to treasure them for the good memories they bring to you one day. I am sorry if this makes you sad, and I know it is still so soon. Forgive me if I have stepped out of bounds by saying that. Perhaps the grandchildren who will not grow up with Your parents can listen to family stories and watch videos and see pictures. I am sorry if this makes you sad, and I know it is still so soon. Forgive me if I have stepped out of bounds by saying that.

I include you and your family still, every day, in my prayers and thoughts.

All of my respect to you,

Michael

I'm doing OK. Been busy on getting this mess of a house back into proper condition. I've had workers here everyday working on the remodeling and fixing up for the past month now. It's pretty hectic. I'm also going on seven months pregnant, so that doesn't make it any easier for me! It takes all I got sometimes just to get up and go to the store or something. The workers messed up my internet connection for about a week. Along with my washer and dryer... Oh well...
