I have done research on this to decide for myself and SOWR has alot of valid points. If people would get past the name calling and accusing they would see that a bottling plant in this area with this drought is a bad idea and crystal geyser needs to go somewhere else.

Why sell our water to be shipped off over-seas when you can use it to grow food? Orland don't sell our natral resorces. Our vally depends on a high water table in our aquafer. The water table is already falling and the snowpack levels are at an all time low.Lake Shasta and Oroville are depleated feeding the sourthern part of the state.Water is the only thing keeping us from an airead wast land. I LOVE THIS VALLY it like noware else on earth.save our water.

Phony arguement #1

Why sell our water to be shipped off over-seas when you can use it to grow food?

This amount of water doesn't amount to spit, but the NIMBY's keep repeating it in on form or another.

Phony arguement #2

The facility will be too noisy.

This is a late entry, The facility is in an industrial zone.

The SOWR better select a rep to speak without going over the time limit and without upsetting the Council members. Name calling shouldn't be a part of it. A very highly explosive matter and no matter what the outcome, Orland will be divided, no doubt. To add to that, a lot of the people of SOWR are not eligible to vote in City Council elections.

Personally I look forward to paying a couple of bucks for 8 ounces of recycled carbonated waste water from Orland.

Whenever I flush my toilet in Redding I will think of the 'geyser' lol.

I'm sure after it's filtered it will taste just like...uh filtered water.

Glenn County's Economical success is a reflection of this groups ability to be leaders. They are the old school that has always run the County. Our County is at the bottom of the economic latter or second from the bottom. We got to where we are by following their control.

"there are alot of us who are against crystal geyser who can vote in elections and I think the council needs to remember that."

I'm betting there are a lot more unemployed people and family of unemployed who would rather see 25 good paying jobs than another 10 acres of Almonds employing 2 migrant workers.

I'd also bet few people are fooled by the anti Geyser campaign scare tactics.

The farmers are not the ones who shot down all the other businesses that wanted to come into orland. The planning commision and city council did that all on their own.Why do you think we have so many empty buildings here.So dont bash the farmers until you have all the facts. We need to think long term on this not just the short term jobs. What kind of water will be left when our kids are grown. And by the way, I know some unemployed people and they agree with me, the water is far more important than jobs.

Remember the Hersey Chocolate Plant? They chased that away too. An EIR will be a waste of time because SOUR, oops, SOWR will still fight the project even if an EIR says it has no environmental impacts. Just another waste of time and money to keep another clean industry out of Glenn County. I am surprised they haven't shut down Johns Manville plant as well.

Is there a fund so I can contribute to create more jobs and stop these narrow minded NIMBYS? This is not just an Orland issue.

So if I understand you right I should have no say in this issue since my house is not in the city limits? Even though I am pumping from the same aquifer? Using this reasoning, does that mean Glenn County residents should not complain if Colusa County farmers burn? Afterall, we may share the same sky but... Does that mean that if Tehama County decides to divert more water out of the Sacramento River and send it south I have no say? After all, if its in their county it is none of my business, Right? Do you mean to tell me if I were a farmer growing an organic crop and the next door neighbor decides to spray pesticides on a windy day, I have no say? Afterall, he pays the taxes on the other side of the fence, I don't.

When Nestles comes to town they will buy all the water and your bill will triple.

As far as Hershey's they will buy all the nut and we will be rich. Unless they buy the orchards and rename I5 the Hershey Highway.

I know the city council will ultimately approve crystal geyser because its more tax revenue for the city. They are not thinking about the long term effects. We need to look at all the ramifications of this not just the short term money envolved.Hey, why do you think crystal geyser chose Orland? Everyone knows we are a small town with mostly agriculture business. It's because they know they can get past all the red tape by flashing the promise of jobs and tax money.

No, no. I'm saying you can't vote for those sitting on City Council if you don't reside in city of Orland. My last sentence says' a lot of members of SOWR cannot vote for those sitting on the City Council' because they don't live in the city limits. Need to read carefully and without prejudice. Have a good and foggy day!

You mean that they can get by the red tape like the agriculture business does? Agriculture can create dust problems on 32 and I5 without having a water truck for dust control and create safety issues for drivers but that is ok because it is Agriculture. Let a Aggregate plant create 1/4 of that dust and they would be issued a citation.

Translation:
Yeah jobs and tax revenue are bad things that we don't need in Orland.

If this project isn't clean enough or pure enough to create good paying jobs in Orland, what business is? "None" according to the NIMBYS.

Daily Horoscope for March 18

Sagittarius

The day may begin on a breezy note, but by afternoon you will need to take care of many responsibilities. You may have more than your share while Mars kicks up dust in your sixth house of health and service, but you will also have an opportunity to be recognized for all the work you do. Be aware of a tendency to overeat while the nurturing Moon prescribes food as comfort.
