What an stupid assumption, Obama will have had far more ties to slavery through his africian roots than american. Just who do you think enslaved the slaves in the first place. In Kenya where he is from the Portuguese had trading posts for 200 years selling slaves among other items. The slave trade went on for 300 years before white people ever penetrated the interior.

Arab slavers moved into the interior of Kenya with the primary goal of exploiting rivalries between local tribes. The Arabs encouraged the powerful groups to conquer their weaker neighbors and sell them into slavery. The slaves were then forced to the coast and on to Zanzibar to be traded. Both ivory and slaves were hugely profitable and Zanzibar grew rich on the trade. This pattern continued despite the public outrage in Europe demanding an end to all slave trade. Eventually, the British brought their forceful anti-slavery message directly to the Sultan as they established a consulate at his court. After years of pressure, the Sultan finally relented and agreed to ban slavery in 1847.

The Arabs did not care who won just as long as they kept fighting there was a steady supply of slaves as one black tribe enslaved captives of another black tribe and visa versa.

So I am sure Obama had roots in slavery in Kenya as his ancestors were among the tribes fighting each other.

As you trace back an individual's ancestry, his or her number of ancestors double with each generation. Therefore, it is not surprising that when they traced the President's mother's lineage 13 generations they find an Afican. Everyone has tens of thousands of potential direct ancestors at that distant remove. Of course, many of the lines criss-cross, so the actual number of ancestors a person has is usually much less than the potential. In isolated cultures, like Pacific islanders (an extreme example) there's a lot of cro connections. In newer and varied cultures, like the Americas', there are fewer intersections up the line. Nearly all Americns are racially mixed. If you go far back enough, we humans are nearly all related.

The only interesting thing about this information--accurate or not--is that it shows Obama is so bothered by having white in him that he will resort to anything to lessen the stigma. Frankly, I don't believe the story. Poor soul! how awful it must be to be so displeased with what one is!
