The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary president implies that although previously the dogmatic argument was that 'homosexuality is a choice' now it is likely that homosexuality is biological. Technology might be available to 'fix' the homosexuality invetro.

Dilemma: If the basis for homosexuality is biological, then it can't be a 'choice' which removes the responsibility from the individual and places it back on God. Tampering with a pre-born individual (life begins at conception, according to the baptists) means that Baptists know better than God, but more importantly, that 'they' are right, and God is wrong. Doesn't that completely destroy the belief system?

baptist suck, and are dumb, they are hard headed. and women are always snobby, better then catholics they are pure idiots. I think that cattle is hell of a lot smarter then them.

I don't think any specific religion can "cure" homosexuality. It's something,I believe, that God allows to occur so that the believers are tested.

Only the elect are redeemed (not free will), all others left to there own demise.

this has got to be the stupidest thing i have ever heard. truly gay individuals do not wake up one day and say "I think I will wear my brown shoes, and oh, I think I will be gay today!" i am the PROUD mother of a gay son and this is bull. He struggled for years with this and tried everything to deny it. he was unhappy for most of his teen years, until he finally came to grips with it. as every person is born with a sexual preference, so are gays. do i wish it were different, yes. does he wish it were different, yes. can we fix him, NO.
you never know before birth what your child is going to look like, let alone what sexual orientation he/she will have. I thought missouri was full of stupid people, don't spoil my illusions of the great state of texas.

Suppose God creates homosexuality with the same purpose as all of his creations. Enjoy and overcome. Those who are gay know they are loved and honored by God, at some point heteros will come to see that and accept it for just that. The problems that gays face in their battle with discrimination will overcome the hurdles of hatred and fear. The overcoming will give them the wisdom and strenth to give to their future generations. Those who allow themselves a moment of quiet and contemplation know that there are too many gays in this world to blame on choice. I strongly believe that this bible stance was created by man, not God. God does not put us here to destroy us. We destroy ourselves by our incorrect beliefs and fears.

I once knew a girl, a friend of mine, who was as gay as it gets. Her Baptist guilt soon got the better of her, so she married an unsuspecting man with no knowledge of her leanings. I have been told they have two children. What does one do with the real person they are inside and what does someone like this bring to a marriage and to innocent children? If anyone out there knows, please tell me. I have always wondered.

Bravo! Well said! That seems to be the problem with most organized religion. It consists of "man made" doctrine and "man made" judgment and somehow the messages that Jesus came and preached on the riverbank is just forgotten. From what I read in the bible, Jesus came to preach love, compassion and forgiveness and to feed the people. Today's preachers seem to prefer to preach anger, condemnation and expect the people to feed them and build them beautiful ivory towers from which to deliver their messages.
