Did you know this product contains at least 3% fermaldahyde and stylists are doing nothing but complaining about the carcengetics that are in this system. They wear masks and eye production intsalling very expensive ventilation systems and causing customers and stylists alike to complain about sore throught and problems breathing during and after the application. You should check out a brand new product Keratin Complex Hair Therapy by Coppola call them

An ingredient in this treatment, formaldehyde, is very dangerous. For this reason, I don't reccommend this process. The article makes it seem like no big deal but this cardinogen is truly deadly. Also, a 4.5 pH level, on a scale of 1 to 14, is very acidic. Water, which has a level of 7 is neutral, and the farther away from 7, the more dangerous. Before you get this treatment, ask yourself if it is worth the risk. You will get straight hair but you will also put yourslef in danger.

I think the process is another knock against curly hair. Curly hair is not ugly or unmanageable if you take care of it.

Buyer beware. If u r sensitive in any way to fomaldehyde, then stay away from most salon processes. The FDA does not regulate these products. OSHA does test for safety in the workplace, but those requirements may be more than you can take (parts per million in the air, etc). OSHA has approved the process, but that may not mean much to you personally.

FYI, formaldehyde is one of the chemicals they use to embalm dead bodies. It's also that funky smell that was on anything you dissected in Biology class. Why would you put that on your head?

OSHA considers anything above 0.75 ppm to be hazardous. The Allure article measured various BK solutions as 3 to about 7 ppm.(I don't have the article in front of me, so that's my recollection).

Here's a description of the health hazards.

Formaldehyde is a sensitizing agent that can
cause an immune system response upon initial
exposure. It is also a suspected human
carcinogen that is linked to nasal cancer and lung
cancer. Acute exposure is highly irritating to the
eyes, nose, and throat and can make you cough
and wheeze. Subsequent exposure may cause
severe allergic reactions of the skin, eyes, and
respiratory tract. Ingestion of formaldehyde can
be fatal, and long-term exposure to low levels in
the air or on the skin can cause asthma-like
respiratory problems and skin irritation such as
dermatitis and itching. Concentrations of 100 ppm
are immediately dangerous to health or life.

I had the Keritin Complex by Coppola treatment two days ago. Hair is straight but looks a little bit dry. Can you use any kind of product (gel or something) on the hair in the first four days? I know not to get it wet.

Maya,

I'm considering doing the Coppola treatment. I would REALLY appreciate any feedback over the next couple of days, especially after you wash you hair to see how it dries. Where did you get it done? Do you have before and after pics? Is that product really formaldehyde free or did you smell bad fumes and see stylists wearing masks?

Again I will say, anyone considering getting this done, please check out www.naturallycurly.com first. Check into the Curly Girl Method by Lorraine Massey. It does wonders for curly hair. Why fit in with the rest of the world and their boring straight hair. Choose to stand out!

Be careful, someone says "Formaldehyde Free" and you guys think it is safe to use. It has to have something else in it. I heard it does not work very well and leaves the hair dry. The stylist I spoke with that used it said it is not worth the money.

You need to look alittle deeper with cappolas keratin complex. IT DOES contain formaldehyd. It may be called somthig else but is certainly there.
I have had it tested. False advertising. These destrbutors don't give a care what they are doing to stylists. The know what ever it is is short lived so get your money while you can.Be careful of these people trying to sell this shit.
