New football coach

Heard today that Orange Grove hired our football coach away from us here in Bonham. Just wanted to pop on here and say a big THANK YOU for that. He'll be great for you guys down in Orange Grove.

Oh PLEASE, tell me we didn't do worse than what we had! The one we had did NOTHING but walk the side lines with a play folder stuffed in the back of his pants. Strange thing is OGISD just hired a new sup. who is from Sherman (born and raised there from what I hear) and this new coach is from the same area. Hum, most times the ones not worth having seem to run in packs. Oh crapola!!!

Please take Hall back, in one week the guy has single handedly desroyed any excitement the kids built up durig the summer; he is awful. Every one of our school board members should resign for hiring this guy. 7 -8 of our key returning starters are saying things like, I hate football, I wish I would snap an ankly so I did not have to play. This guy is so bad he is not even conditioning the kids during 2 a days.

Hall wasn't originally from this area. I think he has family down in your area somewhere. He was here two years and did nothing...wait, let me say that again, here two years and did NOTHING.

You guys won't like him. He got the job because his ties to the supt. there and that the school board here was tired of his act.

Have fun with the "nasty slot" offense doing nothing but getting your guys killed. We threw the ball less than 30 times all last year total.

Don't quite understand your reply. Hall will be coaching here in 2009-2010. Are you talking about Orange Grove players saying these things after just starting 2 a days on Monday?

Tired of his act in that the first year he brought in all new assistants, most of them their first coaching jobs ever that had no idea what he wanted them to run on defense, telling the linemen one thing, secondary another, just mass chaos. After the first year, they all leave, then Hall hires nearly a whole new staff again and went through the same stuff. Most disorganized program we've ever had here, and it wasn't even close.

He proudly led Bonham to their first winless season that anyone can remember his first year here. But that's easy to do when all your good athletes don't even want to play because it's so disorganized and they all said it was no longer enjoyable.

Crud, that is what I was afraid of. Your description is exactly what is taking place; everything from the good athletes not wanting to play to total disorganization.

Really? I had heard "thru the grapevine" that alot of the kids received phone calls. I just didn't know exactly what it was about. I also heard that the school board isn't who interviewed the applicants for the position. They had a "committee". From what I've heard some of these committee members don't know the first thing about football. Seems some parents were "selling" their choice to the members. Now, if all of this is true, I'm left to wonder about how things are REALLY being done. I guess time will tell. Hopefully this will lead parents who have kids in school to become involved (which alot are not). There is more to involvement than going to a friday night game wearing a tee shirt with your kids number on it!

I know two of the other coaches left with the AD. I'm anxious to see how many new ones are here. I'v heard that alot of the good players either moved or are not playing. Heck some chose to not play last year because of the nonsense with the AD. Rumor was he played his "favorites" instead of those that knew the game and could play it. I do know they have ALOT of talented athletes (especially in baseball). It's really sad that the high school doesn't have one competent baseball coach. Heck, the kids know the game and how to play it better than the one's who are being paid to teach them. O.G. baseball program - evidently the coaches get that job because of WHO they know instead of WHAT they know!
