Moving to Gulf Shores

Good for you. Ask any real estate agent and they will tell you that the majority of renters either do nothing to improve the rented house or are destructive. Ask any homeowner in any development and they will tell you that they prefer not to have renters in their development. There is an incentive for homeowners to maintain and even improve their possession. Renters do not have this incentive because they do not have a vested interest in the home they are renting. That's the facts whether you agree or not. This is not stereotyping--if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck and quacks like a duck--it probably is a duck.
"..you get mad when people stereotype you as a grouch". I don't get made and I was not being stereotyped--I was called a 'grouch' which I don't mind. I tell the truth but, some people just can't handle the truth and they look at the messenger as a grouch or even worse. That is their problem--not mine.

I for one am appalled after reading assholes oh my bad "give me a break" post. Number one he does not live in Gulf Shores it clearly sais he lives in Foley where yes there is a lot of so called "trailer trash" namely himself. I live on the beautiful island of Gulf Shores and I also rent my home. Which is kept up beautifully inside and out. Never have I ever heard anyone say that they hate renters. The people on this island are all courteous and happy people nothing like this man. I say come, enjoy, be happy whether you rent or live in a tent or even an RV in one of our many RV parks. We have a beautiful town and the people that live here live with pride. Do not judge Gulf Shores or Orange Beach residence for that matter because of one ignorant ass that apparently hates his life that I am grateful lives on the other side of the bridge and not in our wonderful little town. I hope and encourage anyone of you to come live with us on our little piece of heaven

I hope everyone that reads your post, rents in Gulf Shores and not in Foley. Foley is a place where people come to live and establish roots and not buy a house as an investment like you who rent your house for a season or a year or for 3-months for profit. Gulf Shores is a beach area and that is where there are condos and campsites to rent for those who have homes in other places that they just lock-up for a while and come here to enjoy the beach. If you have never met people who resent renters then maybe you should just come to Foley and ask a lot of people in Owner Developments and you will find lots of them.

Hey Lexington folks, I am a UK Grad (Go Big Blue) and lived in Lexington for 15 years. My husband and I moved to Gulf Shores last June and we love it.

I love it. We just finished a season where the name of the game was throwing a ball. Now we are in a season where the name of the game is bouncing a ball. Next month we will be starting a season where the name of the game is batting a ball. I would think that as one goes from childhood to adulthood that they would find something more interesting to occupy their time. Well, I guess that spectator sports are just pablum for the lazy like reading 5-books every week. It apparently justifies one's time so that they don't have to feel guilty about doing anything meaningful.

I have been talking to several realtors and have googled like crazy! After about a year of research I have decided that it would be stupid to buy right away. So not only will I be moving into a rental I have dogs and kids! And I have NEVER even been to the Alabama gulf coast! Call me what you want that's fine maybe we can be neighbors.:) have a great day god bless

Bennett could you email me some info on ur rentals. I would love to live in gulf shores an need to find a long term rental.

Your husband is in school, you are an interior decorator just like I am a "consultant", you have kids and 3-dogs and have been talking to Realtors and doing research for a year. And you wonder why you aren't getting anywhere? You must believe in miracles.

Yes I do believe in miracles! Also no I just started talking to realtors after a year of research. I have 1 kid and 3 dogs an have found a beautiful place on Midway ave in foley, today!
