I am wandering if anyone besides me is getting fed up with the rescue squad from Samson? These guys miss more calls than they make. Now I understand they are volunteers, but I also understand they operate under a State of Alabama license that requires them to make runs. The only way they can not make runs is to call their dispatcher and let them know ahead of time that they will not be able to take calls.Obviously they don't do that because I am always hearing them call for Geneva, Opp or Walton County to cover for them. These services have their own community members to look out for. They are not staffed or equipped to have trucks covering Samson all of the time. This has got to stop. They have got to can who ever is in charge over there and start over. The time for playing around is over. The next unanswered call I hear I am filing a complaint with the State Department of Health. And I will continue to file complaints until I don't hear any missed calls or their license is pulled. The way I figure it, we already have to wait on the surrounding towns to send their trucks over here so if they do lose their license at least these other squads will know ahead of time and can better prepare until something new and better comes to Samson.

Well Cindy First of all dispatch is supposed to texts all the volunteers which they dont all the time. Second instead of ragging the people that do make rescue runs & wasting a perfectly good scanner just cause you are nosey why dont you volunteer to go on runs instead of running your mouth.
Wow touched a nerve there

First of all before you wet yourself let me set the record straight. I am a volunteer and have been since 1991. Not only am I a volunteer, I went farther and got my volunteer firefighter certification as well as first responder, hazardous materials A&O, high angle rescue, hazardous materials in schools, federal disaster response, federal disaster debris removal, household hazardous materials, and about 30 or so other certifications I could list. So I think I have earned the right to speak out about issues in EMS and the fire service. I can't help what Central does or does not do. But the fact is these men and women have pager and/or radios to alert them to runs. Last week I was headed down to work in Walton County and heard them being paged to a call where an elderly person had fell and possibly fractured an arm. Again, no one responded. But less than 10 minutes later I heard them calling enroute to cover a ball game. A couple of weeks ago a lady had fallen and lost conciousness in Flat Creek. Samson was paged three times with no response. Walton County had to respond to cover this call. Shortly after this call came out another call came in for a possible suicide attempt. Guess what? Yep, you guessed it, they magically had a crew then. You see the point? A medical call comes in and no body wants to go, but a high profile run or a ball game comes up they have to turn members around because they have so many.

God forbid you ever call them out on it, then they get their poor wittle feewings hurt. Samson rescue has poor leadership, thats the problem. When you hear them getting paged 4 times to a call before they get a response...key phrase there before they get a response. That means they had to have heard the first THREE pages if they heard the 4th. Your right, somethings gotta give but God forbid somebody rock the boat.

I do believe I agree with OMG from Dothan on some of that... We are supposed to be getting texts from Central... Some people do not have radios Hows that? How do I know? I am a member. If you want to send in a complaint, then also tell them we are short on radios. Also, VOLUNTEER, I understand where you are coming from. I have also heard this same situation. First a medical call comes out and then 30 minutes later there is a wreck and everybody shows up. I know. I have heard it too often also. But you don't have to come online and bash us when you do not know all of our details and our conditions. We are supposed to be getting texts from Central right now but guess what? I have not gotten one since December 24, 2011 at 2:44 P.M. We have had several calls since then and I have not gotten the texts from them. I will stand up for my Squad if I know somethings are not mentioned correctly or at all. And Concerned Citizen from Daleville: How in the worl would you know anything about Samson? Are you nosey also. Get all your facts before you bash.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Sagittarius

You're feeling ultra optimistic today, which is great for summoning up the necessary energy to do what has to be done. But don't let it go to your head and convince you that you're capable of performing miracles. If you aren't behaving in this way you'll have to cope with someone who has a swollen head and thinks they're the cat's whiskers.
