It is not any good. A person can only take a big buck this year and there isn't a lot of them around.

Oh sure...like the wolves are half of the threat that the coyotes are. Wolves belong...coyotes have upset the balance of nature...and wolves eat coyotes. They are natural enemies. I suspect that wolves take the bum rap for a lot of the activities if the coyotes. Wolves result in a stronger deer heard...coyotes just mean a much smaller deer heard. Wolves take the sick and the weak...coyotes take everything...and kill just to kill...not always to eat.

I'd prefer wolves any day, to the lousy coyotes. When is the last time you saw any of the formerly plentiful snowshoe hares? Coyotes came...hares disappeared.

A game warden told me ten years ago already that 10% of wild dogs are part wolf and 10% of coyotes are part dog(coydogs). What a mess the wolf-lovers have created. I have lived in northern Wisconsin & Wyoming and many times heard the saying "The only good wolf is a dead wolf."

We just moved up to the north western U.P. area and I was so suprised to hear the howling of the coyotes on our first night! Kind of made me a little worried. I have small children and all of this is kinda new to me. How big is the dangers of letting your kids and dogs play in the yard during the day? Any precautions I can take to keep them out of our yard? Any and all info is appreciated.

BEWARE OF COUGARS! We lost our son to one. She's 17 years older than him & has a daughter a year younger than he is. He refuses to talk to us since the day they were married a few years ago. Its like he was kidnapped & was brainwashed.

I too have seen longtailed cats, but they were in very isolated areas, except for the one in the boulder junction, WI town dump. That one we saw quite clearly. I have had more issues though with those damn bears being everywhere. A bear is either going to...or coming from...trouble.

Coyotes are generally skittish around people, and you seldom actually see them...though they are everywhere. Unlike wolves though, I have had hassles with them in the deep woods, and always carry a gun.

Wolves do not hurt people...just the way it is...and though I have never been hurt by coyotes, I have had times they bothered me while hunting. They close in just close enough that they are pretty safe, but they also chase away the deer. I have not witnessed that effect from the wolves.

Long tailed cats and the wolverines...are not to be trusted...but the bears have sparked many more confrontations...than either of those two rarities.

An elderly woman recently survived a wolf attack while visiting a cemetery in Iran. This is the THIRD documented wolf attack I know of in the past 3 years. Wolves don't chase away deer-they KILL them.

For all the years with wolves and people...there has never been a documented case of a wolf attacking anyone. I wonder what closer scrutiny would show there also. Wolves range over wide areas, and wolves kill the weaker and infirm to eat. Coyotes simply kill because they can. That I have been witness to many times. Wolves get rid of coyotes I would love to see more wolves...and a whole lot less coyotes. Coyotes are upsetting the balance of nature, and are the interlopers...not the wolves. Wolves belong...coyotes do not belong. The only practical coyote control there is...are the wolves.

I just told you about the old lady in Iran and w/i the last 2 years there were 2 other wolf-attacks in North America (1 was on a toddler in Alaska by a mother wolf attempting to bring the boy to her young). All three of thse attacks are documented.

The reason the deer heard is down is not the wolves
or coyotes. poching and over management of bucks is the problem.Wisconin has plenty of deer and the
same amount of wolves and coyotes. In the UP we need to shoot more does and leave the bucks alone for awhile, and turn in the poachers that kill just too shoot their gun.

I dont think there is an issue with the deer population I just think people are overhunting certain areas. Or not going in deep enough. I dont think poaching is a problem personally I think it should be legal to hunt all year long as long as you are doing it for food. It would save the government loads of money from foodstamps! Think of all the meat that lower income familys could get! Even if the familys themselfs did not hunt the die hard hunters should be able to donate it to area food banks. Same with fishing.

I agree that it's ok to kill for food, but where I live to many people trespass and poach just for fun
I have cofronted way to many road hunter's shooting into private property.
One day I was hunting geese on private land and I had a hundred geese landing in my decoy's, and a road hunter pulled over and started shooting at me.

Wolves do not tend to breed with feral dogs...they kill them. Also, if a wolf attacks...it is ill...usually rabid. Wolves avoid people, and with good reason. Contact usually results in them getting hurt.

Doc...you saying it so...and even the people there saying it is so...does not mean it is so.

By the way Marcus Welby...I also am a doctor. That just means a prefix and suffix by my name.

Comparing a wolf to a pitbull is a very long stretch.

People breed wolves to dogs...and end up with an unstable and dangerous mess. That does not mean nature makes the same mistake. People, if given half a chance, can screw anything up. Nothing new there, yet we are supposedly the most intelligent animals on the planet. No wonder the planet is in such trouble.

For one thing people are not animals, and all dogs come from wolves a wolf is just a wild dog.Wild animals will attack weither they are ill are not the people that get attacked don,t live too tell their story. My neighbor has a very nice wolf husky mix and it is a very well trained dog..
