1 What's up with these boaters? Don't they have the lake that they can use? Again, we're kow-towing to a minority. The majority should rule. Must be some local politician is a boater and uses that outlet? Otherwise, why is it such a big deal to not have the bridge there, year round? |

normally i completely disagree with dingle
but hes right does that small area of iron bay really make that much money or get that much use that its not worth it to leave that bridge open its something a lot of people in rochester dont really know about but it saves a lot of time for travel when its open the only reason i could see them moving the bridge for is if they actually make something out of that empire blvd area of the bay thats a very underused part of our city, maybe if that gets developed then close the bridge, but if not, leave the bridge open |

The US Coast Guard controls the dates for opening and closing. They have declared Irondequoit Bay a Safe Boat Harbor for those poor seaman who might get in trouble during bad weather or otherwise.
