Ontario man ID'd as victim of fatal Fontana crash

A man who died Wednesday after a vehicle he was riding in struck a tow truck in Fontana has been identified as 46-year-old Robert Kevin Carstens of Ontario.

Chocoholic Fresno, CA	Reply » \| Report Abuse \| Judge it! \| #3 May 7, 2010 This is a tragedy.The new motor vehicle laws state that you are to pull over into the left hand lanes when there is an emergency vehicle,law enforcement vehicle,Cal Trans or a tow truck in the emergency lanes.Most drivers are still not heeding this law.It was enacted to prevent this very type of accident from occuring.My condolences to this man's family.

I'm willing to bet the driver never saw the tow truck on the shoulder. If anyone is familiar with eastbound 10 approaching Cherry Ave., the off-ramp gets so far backed up that the right shoulder there starts gettin used as a lane by all the big rigs, cars, etc. The off-ramp is usually backed up and suddenly that 4 lane comes to a sudden stop, a lot of drivers 'dive' into the right shoulder.....

I've driven that freeway and taken that exit many times and have been lucky not to been involved in an accident.The 10 freeway is a parking lot filled with incompetant drivers.I'm glad I moved out of Southern California.
