betty i think you are right what is the difference the city of oneonta lets them sell it i am told i dont know that for fact , at the golf courses, if oneonta can do this and profit from it why not the rest of the county, blount county if its going to be dry it should be dry, if not it should be wet , i do not drink the stuff but i will vote yes the county needs the tax dollars to be spent here instead of other counties , and it has been proven that u are not going to stop it from being here in this county , lets let these people who buy this beer support their own home county , not everone elses county , ever penny that comes to blount county, from this sale will be more than we had and i am sure will be well spent providing that the officials dont start voting them selves pay raises right off the top

the talk is in the city and the county i am not sure if it both gets a certain amount of tax for being dry now my question is if the city gets this tax and it has beer to sell at the oneonta golf course then it is not dry and i am not sure if limestone is in the county are not but to me that is not a dry county and how could they get this tax they are putting in the paper and also heard that the city official said no matter what oneonta will not go wet so if they getting this money from other places for being dry i think we should start a call in to state capital and find out about this and if they bring there own beer in to the golf course then they should be raided.

the last i heard of they are part of blount county ,see most people in blount county dont realise, that blount county gets the extra money for being dry , if you call the states office let us know what u find out , this is interesting , theory that you have it looks like to me if we dont go wet now we will loose a lot of money, for the county, and may have to repay , for money collected, for ever year oneonta has let them serve beer there , limestone is supposed to be a part of oneonta alabama , is it not , and it is in blount county , alabama , i had never thought about it that way before , very interesting ,

I think it's time for Blount County to sell alcohol. It's insane to have to drive to other counties to spend money for alcohol that could benefit your own county. If people want to drink, they're going to buy it somewhere---they might as well buy it close to home.

Blount County could use the money. The preachers get in the pulpit and talk politics instead of spreading the word of GOD. That concerns me the most. This country was founded on the seperation between church and state. Preachers and Deacons should be concerned with saving soles for Christ instead of letting the evil one pre occupy them with the alcohol vote. The very first miracle Jesus performed was turning water to wine...Hum? if it was good enough for Jesus it is sure good enough for us.

I agree that Blount County should remain "DRY". Having spent 4 years in Islamic countries; Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Pakistan etc. I recognize that if you have an under educated and un predictable class of citizens you must limit their decision making to religion and sustainment. Alcohol will only serve to make the population more likely to express themselves in ways that are unacceptable to the governing bodies. Alcohol should only be allowed to those individuals who are mature enough to make conscious decisions, therefore, the great majority of Blount County residence should not be allowed to consume alcohol. Keep Blount County "DRY", Mohammad prefers it that way!

hello sam let me tell you blount county is only dry in some parts of the county i understand that limestone springs is wet that they serve alcoholic drinks , i think that they are part of oneonta alabama , why would oneonta allow this , and us setting in a dry county , maybe other places here would like to make a little profit for their bussiness to if one can why cant the other, to me that is kinda like saying that is ok these are educated people they can handle the booze well in my opionion a drunk is a drunk , one no better than the other , it has been proved , time and time over that u are not going to keep the beer, whisky, and vodka drinkers out of this county , no matter what you do ,i do not drink the stuff my self, but guess what i am going to vote a big YES , our county needs to stop supporting other countys thur booze sells and support their own county people in blount are going to drink if they have to drive 40 miles to get it , maybe they should get educated a little and start supporting our own county , that would show smarts on their part would it not ,

I'm not against alcohol but what you people who want to go wet are forgetting is that there is NO ZONING in Blount County. Can you imagine the kind of sleazy bars, with the related noise and crime, that would spring up, possibly in your neighborhood?

What you have to realize is that right now you can't go to a restaurant in Blount county and have alcohol with your meal,if it goes wet you can therefore more drunk drivers on the roads. Not to mention that a certain restaurant in Cleveland would love nothing more than to charge you $3 a bottle of beer to go along with your $50 steak. Trust me thats all they want the county to go wet for, it has nothing to do with them being concerned about education. Also to the people who approve going wet, would you have a problem with me opening a bar/saloon next door to you that stays open until 4am on the weekends? How about some topless girls to go along with that? And maybe even a few parking lot brawls here and there? You better think about everything that comes along with being wet before you vote!

if your children go to oneonta city school think about this.if blount goes wet on a friday nite when the ball games are over do you want your kids to drive home with drunks on the roads.and they will, because most people who vote to go wet will be in the local bars and leaving to head on over to another bar down the road, most drunk drivers hop from bar to bar.not only that but in most cases if a drunk driver is in a car wreck they are hardly ever the one that is hurt or killed in the wreck.think about that do you want to be the reason that your very own child was killed in that wreck because you just had to vote yes!!!also you think the schools are going to get the money from blount going wet, take a drive over to birmingham, gadsden, guntersvill e,or any other county that is a wet county they are mostly still waiting on this money promised to them.also look into the crime rate in these counties they almost double.look into sneads dui'S.EVERY WEEKEND THEY HAVE TO TAKE PEOLPE JAIL FOR DRINKING AND DRIVING FROM LEAVING PLACES LIKE FOXYS OR THE OLD TIME SALOON.how do you think these people get back home,IN THE CAR THEY DROVE THERE IN.so when you go over on voting day i really hope you think about your children or grandchild you are putting at risk for a little more money for your school.if you care for your child you will vote no.or are you looking at the money you could make from a bar that you open, either way are you really gonna risk your own child for money.because it may not be your own child that dies but how about your friends child could you live with that .i hope you think before you vote.please just think it is no good to think about it later after something happens to you or someone you know!!!!!!!

our roads are full of drunk drivers on the roads here now the only thing i think it would mean is that , they would not have to be on the roads , for so long at a time now it is a long ride to get the beer , at least if they have it local , they might be on the roads a shorter amount of time .

i think maybe you need to go back to school and learn how to spell.first off all if you have been in blount county very long then you should know that at every corn of bloubt you can buy booze you want at the county lines.you are one of the people in blount that will end driving while drunk and killing someones child,if not your very own.you really need to get help if you think blount going wet is going to help, you tell a time ever that alcohol has done someone any good!all it is going to do is hurt with a bar at every corn of town, drunks being out all hours of the night.you will not be able to call the law on these people, because once it goes wet, guess what you ask for it and i hope where ever it is that you live i hope they open a bar so close to your house you cant sleep for the noise and violence.and there will be if you have ever been around drunks all they do is pick fights with each other.hope you enjoy the great job you done by voting to go wet.if you have children how will this effect their lives having all the drunks driving on the streets they live on,because as of now most people take back roads or go around where most people do not travel on so much but if it goes wet they will be driving in the middle of all our towns and not really care!!!hope you live well with that

Wow, "blount county citizen", it looks to me you are the one that needs to go back to school to learn how to spell, punctuate and in general use proper grammar. Besides the fact that your entire statement was tedious and close to impossible to understand, it is about as far from the truth as it could be. First of all yes there are stores at every corner of Blount County that sells beer or what not. This will not change if Blount County votes yes or no. The citizens of Blount County have and always will have pretty easy access to their drink of choice. What will change is that Blount County will receive taxes on the sales of all the alcohol purchased in Blount County. The surrounding counties now receive this revenue from our citizens that do drink and do buy from these counties. I don't believe for an instant that there would be "more" drunk drivers now on our county roads; as we already know they are getting it from somewhere/elsewhere! If you believe by not allowing alcohol sales in Blount County would prevent drunk drivers, late night parties, fights, or broken families you really need to pull your head out of the sand. Alcohol is already here. It is not going anywhere! Step out of the stone ages and accept some tax revenue off of it. Vote YES rather you drink or not. The next time you cross the county lines notice how the roads change from rough to smooth. Notice how all those stores on the other side of the county line are collecting tax revenue that could remain in our county. Notice how all the surrounding counties have nice restaurants. When I cross the county road closest to me, I don't see topless bars or drunks fighting in parking lots. I see pretty much the same terrain as what we enjoy here in Blount County but with nicely paved roads and some sit down restaurants. I see the very restaurants that the citizens of Blount County must leave Blount County to enjoy. So to rant and rave about how going wet will kill us all is about as foolish as one can be. We all know it is already here, so let's enjoy some of the revenue from it. Vote YES (rather you drink or not)

If Blount County goes wet we will lose $359,000 a year that TVA provides each county that is dry. That means every man woman and child in Blount county will have to drink 144 cans of beer a year to equal that amount. Blount county is special the way it is because it is dry. I choose to live here because my children are not exposed to alcohol everywhere we go. The profits are not worth the negitive impact on our children.
