I dont think that solomon's castle should be sold because when i went there when i was little i had alot of fun and i dont want it to ever change. But if someone ever buys it please take care of it and keep it the way it is.

I lived not to far from Arcadia and i've never heard of this place, sounds like it is quite exciting. It's wonderful that you are concerned about it being sold, have you ever thought of writing a letter to the owner and telling him how you feel? He just might answer you and it will be something to treasure for a lifetime. It's worth a try. I toured the Mystery Castle in Tuscon,Arizona, guided by the lady who owned it,she gave me a signed book she had written,i still have it today.

I would not like to see Howard sell his Magic Castle and grounds and the boat in the moat. He has put so much into it and it will never be the same without him.

We take all of our family and friends to Soloman's Castle when they come to Florida to visit with us and they really look forward to the trip. Our Grandchildren are coming to visit with us this summer and want to go to see Howard and his Castle.

We will sure miss you Howard Solomon and your wonderful humor and wit of explaining all that you have made included in your tour if you are no longer there as owner. No one can take your place.

Today I met Howard Solomon, the artist and creator of Solomon's Castle. He is so awesome! I also met his daughter, Alane. She also has the wit and whimsy of her father. Come to visit Arcadia, Florida. The castle is closed for the summer months, so be sure to check on line when they re-open. Howard wants to sell, but we all hope selfishly that he remains the King of his Kingdom. May he live to create more magic in his kingdom.

Solomon's Castle:
WHERE: Lily, a tiny outpost northeast of Fort Myers between Arcadia and Zolfo Springs
WHAT: The shiny silver structure (made of old newspaper press plates) and virtually everything in and around it are the creations of owner and benevolent ruler Howard Solomon.
The artist, who's also a carpenter, teacher and stand-up comic, bought the 55-acre spread along Horse Creek in the 1970s and has been working as hard as a serf on it ever since. Prepare to experience an art- and pun-filled tour of room after room of art objects Solomon's fashioned from all manner of matter.
Take along a picnic lunch or grab a bite at the castle's restaurant, the Boat in the Moat, which is exactly what the name implies. Sandwiches and salads are available during the hours when the castle's open.
DRIVE TIME: About 2 hours
DIRECTIONS: From Fort Myers, take Interstate 75 north to U.S. 17 in Punta Gorda and head north (right). Go into Arcadia to State Road 70 and make a left. Cross the Peace River, turn right on County Road 661 then left onto County Road 665 and follow the signs.
HOURS: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Closed July-early October.
COST: Admission is $7.50 for adults,$3 for children ages 12 and younger.
DETAILS: Call 863 494 6077

I have visited Solomons Castle. It is truly something you HAFTA experience once in your life. The folks there were uncommonly nice. Example: My girlfriend and I wanted to eat at their restraunt, "The Boat In The Moat". Unbeknownst to us, it was a cash only experience. The people who ran the place actually told us that we could send them the money for the bill. They also don't have ATM and prefer no to do credit cards. But to tell total strangers that they can send the payment to them is my definition of uncommonly nice. They did however take my credit card out of the goodness of their hearts. And when they tell you "real home cooking", they mean it. This was not stuff brought in from a major food distributor. It was REAL home cooking. NOT just some catchy cliche'. And I would HIGHLY recommend the ribs. As for the museum, Mr. Solomon is sheer genius. Their are countless examples of his imagination at work displayed in every nook and crannie of their castle. And there is a story behind every single piece. A pun, quibble, quirk or quote with every piece as well. The family there are truly wonderful people. DEFINATELY one of the last places you can find in Florida that has REAL people that are true, kind and genuine. I will miss that part the most because it is so hard to find anymore. And if they ever read this forum I wrote, I want them to know that I REALLY appreciate the kindness they delivered. You are rare and wonderful people. And if you sell, you will be missed. Thank you, Michael.

Our first visit to Solomon's Castle, and it was a memorable experience! We stayed in The Blue Moon Room overnight and enjoyed the tour of the museum and grounds and talking to Mr. Solomon. The food was great and I loved their pink lemonade, too. Everyone was so nice and I look forward to our next visit there.

I am very sad to hear that you want to sell this beautiful castle. My daughter and I where there 10
years ago. We wanted to visit it again - hopefully Mr.Howard you will still be there. We talked for awhile and you were so gracious and then took extra interest in Corinne - she was staying at Arcadia at that time. I have never forgotten the wonderful hours we had spent at the castle. Thank you, Ursula.
