Looks like you are trolling for an argument. Many black people choose to live in Omaha. Whether a mid-sized city in the midwest is a "good" place to live has less to do with color than many other variables (employment, values, cost of living, etc.). I guess you are going to have to frame the topic a little more if you have a specific question.

I do. Have had chances to move for career opportunities and have always declined. I have a very good quality of life here.

Not at all I was looking for an Omaha response. If you are reading the W/H it is very difficult to understand the workings of Omaha Nebr, As you know the there are more poor people to address the take over situation.

Carl...what are you referring to re: "the workings of Omaha..."? Why is it hard to understand how the City operates? What are you seeing as a problem?

I agree with the other writer...what "take over" situation are you describing or anticipating?

Or, is your post just a joke to stir people up? Not very good, if so. If you have to live in the City, you should surely do that which brings peace. What are the facts here? We do want to know...just be accurate, please...your own observations, how many things noticed, etc. Thanks.

I know there are studies out there that show that crimes with people of color are higher, but dont you suppose it is because of the lack of education, poverty and the way people are treated. I mean heck if the tables were turned and white people LIKE myself had to live in such horrible conditions as people of color or different nationalities I two would feel helpless myself. I am such a unrascist person I can see the other side of an issue. Crime exists black, white brown, latino etc.......... we can all be involved with it in one way or another. Do we get caught or tempted?

The more the prices go up, the more violent crime we will see, sadly this will happen in Omaha due to the size of the city for one thing, and lack of total police at times of crimes are committed.

well considering that i have already lived there.. and blacks arnt the ones getting disriminated. the whites are.. i would have to say no.
just for the fact that the crime rate is increasing by the minute..
everything has to do with crips and bloods..
guns and knifes...whites and blacks...drugs...yeah i think that i hit most of the subjects..
but seriously..
wouldnt be such a bad place if it wernt for the violince

I don't think that's accurate at all. Gangs aren't a huge problem in Omaha, especially because the crime area (namely, North Omaha) isn't really that big of an area.

Most violent crimes in Omaha are simple robberies or personal feuds - not gangs, not race.

As far as the topic goes - it's boggling my mind. In any place large enough to be considered a "city," blacks have just as much opportunity as anybody else. Everytime it's brought up, it's just beating a dead horse (as far as large cities go). If anything, with educational benefits and affirmative action, it's actually considerably (and unfairly) easier to get ahead as a black person.

Okay.. take a step bakc and look at what omaha is doing..
North omaha- Blacks
South omaha- Mexicans
West omaha - mixed
East omaha-whites.

Trust me, I'm moving out next year after I graduate. There are jobs, there is entertainment (to some extent), but I would never live here as a black person. You go into West O and the people there are extremely snooty for some obscene reason and when you mention you live in North O they automatically say the ghetto when they now full well they have never been to a real ghetto (I've traveled around the country and been to Detriot and Harlem. That makes N.Omaha seem like childs play)
