This was not a gang shooting in Harvey. It was just a gang of idiots who call themselves retaliating from a earlier altercation somebody had!! Harvey do have their share of gang problems though. The really sad part about it is that she was pregnant too!! Harvey police is a joke becaue they have unskilled officers(that don't know what the hell they are doing when it comes to an investigation), and some of the officers are corrupted themselves.

It took the state police to come in to solve some of their murder cases!! I am really hoping for indictments soon on the Mayor and his goons and administration!!

If that happen a special election can happen and maybe some good leadership can get in.

And the reason why crime is so high in Harvey is because people feel they can do anything and get away with it!! The police aren't going to do a damn thing because some the criminals, gangbangers, and drug boys are the police friends and relatives including the Mayor!!!

Cool:

You don't know what it is like to live in Harvey. Some of the policemen ARE gangbangers. Once the current mayor was elected he put them on the force, which are all his buddies. Some of these officers had been previously fired and were reinstated with the mayor taking office. Go to www.dailysouthtown.com and look up "Eye on Harvey". That should show you to do your reserch before you comment. You have NO idea. I live on 148 MArshfield and it is "deadly" around there. The only reason the police were on the block for like 12 hrs after the girl was shot is because this story made headlines. The other people who died on the block from getting shot didn't make the news and also didn't see a disposition either.

Some the police force is CVL's and I tell you, you can do what you want in Harvey and you have a good chance of getting away with it. IT isn't even worth calling the police.

For example Cool:

23 July 2007

Harvey police say they have finally solved "one" of the city's homicides with the help of authorities in Minnesota.

This would mark the first solved homicide of the year. The town frequently known as the Southland's murder capital began 2007 with four fatal shootings in its first two months.

Either someone on here is friends with the Harvey cops or they don't know what they are talking about!! If you have been following events in Harvey the police are very corrupted and there have been gang members on the police force.

And that was very cruel comment to say killed two birds with one stone!! You better be careful of what you say because what goes around come back around to you double!!!

And they will be caught

Happy days are here because the 3 top Harvey park district overseer's have been arrested by the feds!! This is a start for cleaning up Harvey.

lilmissssunshine606 what are you talking about. I am on your side. I was talking about how bad Harvey is and how the police don't do anything because they are so corrupted. If Harvey was on their jobs these killings taking place in Harvey would be less!!! And if you would have read my posts clearly you would not be talking crazy to me.
You need to be talking crazy to cool post because he was the one talking crazy about your cousin. Read his post about killing two birds with one stone. He was talking about your cousin and her unborn child!!! I took up for your cousin. I understand your frustration but you need to direct it to somewhere else because Am not the one sister!!
And you are right can't nothing bring your sister back but to the young sister's and brother's who live in Harvey stop the violence. Be mindful who you are around because people get caught up on somebody else's b llsh t.

Bahama,
Do you think there is any, any, any way, that good people who care like you could "find" others who care about creating a vibrant Harvey, and form a "coalition" of sorts that could structure plans for "what the people want" and "how to obtain it", and then present these plans to the "State of Illinois" Economic Development Council (or whatever they're called). Couldn't you "bypass" city hall in this way? I mean, gather "intellegence" of crime areas, peoples involved, take photos or videos of illegal activities etc. It's hard work, but if the city is not doing this, someone has to right? I'm just asking.

Ex-harvey,

I would love to present different economical plans and neighborhood positive activities to the "State of Illinois" Economic Development Council. But first Harvey Administration and Police Department need a clean sweep.

We almost need to bulldoze certain parts of Harvey and start from scratch. Until the working class residents of Harvey step up and vote in a better Mayor who cares about cleaning Harvey up, it don't make no sense to present a plan

I would love to rally up some residents with a plan but they are intimidated or just don't care. It is some good news about about Harvey. Three Park District Directors was indicted for stealing taxpayer money, sooner or later the big fish(Mayor Kellogg)would be soon indicted as well because his boy Patterson is about to go down over the park district scandal!!

If I had the backings and money, I would run for Harvey Mayor. I truly care about my community and surrounding neigborhoods like impoverish
Dixmoor, Phoenix, Dolton and Riverdale. We need some community leaders who are willing to step up for these impoverish South Suburb villages and cities.

We need a ticket slated for different mayor races, city councilmens, trustees, aldermen's and etc. But I have faith that these communities will rise again!!

Ex-harvey,

I am pretty sure that the Feds and State boys know what is going on with Harvey. They raided the Harvey Police station several months ago and took out documents and computers.

Harvey is undersurveilance I believe but it take time to gather evidence. But once evidence is gathered and presented in front of Grand Jury then the Grand Jury give the okay for indictments to be handed out. The Harvey Park district is a start because it was probably easier then the whole Mayor office and Police Department. But I know happy days will come because you can't continue to be corrupted and don't expect to be caught!!!

Bahama,
You sound truly like an amazing woman and I wish I lived there so I could work with you. I saw my old house at 97W 155th street yesterday at about 10am while cruising Harvey & it's for sale. I noticed the absence of Stop Lights and more stop signs. Noticed many vacant lots and noticed the precious "City Hall" historic bldg. has not been restored! It was supposed to be a museum by now. There's no scaffolding on it, like they did nothing. There's even a crooked column on the right! There are some buildings worth saving.
Anyway, if "regular citizens", from a "grass roots level" really formed a data gathering group, it would not only help out the Feds and the State, but get Airplay. That's what corruption does not like...Mass exposure. Only "People", and not just another day on the job of cleaning up Harvey, will make the difference. Even if you and 5 friends met once a month, commented on a few talk shows, contacted a few reporters here and there, found additional help by rallying the churches, convinced some key neighbors to start a block program.......
All these things compiled would be a great "back story" for when you uncovered something big, of videoed (through your phone or small cameras. It just takes "selling" this idea to others who possess some passion for living in a crime free productive clean progreesive town. You do sound like the kind of person that can do this. Also, just like an aldermanic structure, if there were a "star" formation with 5 different citizens family watchdog groups/stations living in a rough star pattern, you'd be able to virtually canvass the whole crime scene when you put it all together. It's hard to "save" a town.... but can you imaging a Harvey that looks like an Orland Park?? The payoff would be worth the trouble.

Ex-Harvey,

I tried to rally up a few neighbors but they are afraid of retaliation. If I had backings, I would truly love to stage protest and gather information. Kellogg have a lot of family that live in Harvey and surrounding communitites.

I don't think people truly know how Mayor Kellogg and his goons work. They will find a way to get you back but if we had more people involved, then Kellogg and his goons could get expose more.

I think this thing will play itself out because once some more indictments start, then this could be a start of a new beginning. Maybe a special election can come about if the Mayor get indicted next.

Ex-Harvey,

Some of Harvey is not so bad but the 3rd Ward is the worse. From 153rd in Park all the way over to Page street and then going south to 158th street is horrific with drugs, protitutes and gangbangers.

Then you have another section from 154th in Woods to Dixie Highway that is terrible. Then another section around 150th in Washington Street. See you have differenct pockets of Harvey that is really bad. If those pockets can be cleaned up, maybe Harvey would not be a bad place to live.

Bahama,
So it kind of sounds like normal drug related geographic locations. 154th & wood to Dixie highway, leaves the 155th & 154th corriders open to distribute and transport drugs on to I-57 and I-94. The area from 153& Park would use the Park street to import & export drugs on to the I80/90 and east to indiana. It seems like there'd be drug activity in the Hispanic Community over by 158th around St. John's Church. because that would shoot over the drugs to and from the 80/90 and 65 as well. Once the State Patrols can get some exposure through citizen's pictures, videos, tips etc, they will bring the media in. Exposure is the key. Retalliation may ensue, but every American can own a "long rifle" in their own home.
I was in Orland Park on Sunday, and I thought....154th street can look like this, but with "period style" architecture and it would be so attractive. Harvey needs an Arts Council though as well.
Bahama, can you & some other concerned citizens "meet" me at: delphiforums.com/ImproveHarvey
Put in a password name and start writing. We can toss around some ideas. Get your friends that want to save Harvey on this.
Hopefully, we'll see you there.
