sheriff won't give grayson police any help

i think this a crying shame for him to deny radio and deputy backup for mitch bratton, whether he has shown "respect" or not.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the computer system actually belong to the state? If I was Chief Bratton I would contact the Attorney General. How about the radio system? Lets say the dispatcher refuses to answer Chief Bratton's call for backup in a fire fight. He gets killed. I can see the headline now "Family of Grayson Police Chief Mitch Bratton sues Sheriff Steve May due to Sheriff's Office refusal to answer call for help" It could turn into a sad sad story!!!

It's all about politics. Sheriff May had already announced he will not run for another term. Chief Bratton has let it be known informally that he plans to run for Sheriff in the next election.
Supposedly Sheriff May has changed his mind about retiring, and is now having to discredit Chief Bratton wherever and however he can. Then to add to the intrigue, there's a rogue deputy sheriff who has also unofficially thrown his hat into the ring to run for sheriff, and has his own little scheme of sending anonymous letters to the media
with not-so-veiled lies about Chief Bratton, also for the purpose of discrediting Chief Bratton.
There are no winners in this little child's game.
But there are losers....the citizens of Caldwell Parish and Grayson who only want the law to be there when they need it....not a political feud that leaves them in a lurch when they need help.

In response to Grayson LA's comment, it's all about politics and who you are here. If you know the right people and/or have the right last name, you can do anything and/or get anything done, legal or not, most often not. I have experienced this firsthand on too many occasions. Someone calls in and says that I did something that I know that I definitely didn't do, 3 or 4 patrol cars pull in my driveway. Other hand, when I tell them something about the person that's calling in, they completely disregard it as a total lie. When I need the law in my neighborhood, they ain't there. When I don't need them, they're in my driveway harassing me and my grandmother.
Also, in response to joy's comment, I believe that completely. Also, apparently , around last election, there was some 150 or so arrest warrants on the Sheriff's desk and could not be served because the suspects were on the Sheriff's payroll. That is just rumor, but it's probably true. If so, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

we need to fire all older caldwell cops plus sheriff and start from scratch we had someone beating our dog and trespassing and we called then and they said it wasn't there problem to fix they are sorry pieces of shit

They were probably kin to them. If you know who they are and you call the law, one of their little special people calls there kin and tells them to leave, that a complant has been called in and deputies are coming. The deputies take their time getting there until the kin folk have a chance to leave and everyone is happy except you of course. the whole mess is funnier that the Sunday comics!

Mr Trent needs to get behind Chief Bratton and help us promote him to Sheriff Bratton. To the deputy that posts, exactly why are you and Grayson on different channels? Because your Sheriff pulled a tantrum and denied the same channel to Grayson that he gave the other two towns. Do you want to have to call for back up via cell phone? I doubt it. I don't believe Steve May is selling drugs, but he and "detective" Childress damn sure aren't doing anything to stop others from selling them.

WHERE DOES THAT CRAP COME FROM?

1.(ref. to #3) I don't live close enough to Grayson for their PD to be anywhere near here, I'm slightly out of Columbia PD's jurisdiction, and the State Police as well, so I'm not fortunate enough to have 3 agencies.(CPSO, CPD, and LSP)

2.(ref. to #5) When honest folks can't get honest justice, they start thinking of the possibilities as to why they(the CPSO) won't do their job. This also applies to the speed limit as well.

3. I believe a few deputies try to do their job correctly, and I personally know a couple of them.

4. Though the courthouse is 5 mins away for a civilian(2-3 for even a "routine" call for L.E.) CPSO sure takes plenty of time to get here, unless one of the rich citizens that "run the parish"(not officially but by corruption) calls, then they're here immediately.

Summary: I have the facts, and plenty of them, and I have several other honest folks' opinion about the CPSO. The people of this parish, both honest and crooked, know the truth.

That's how it goes here in this parish. But someday, honesty shall prevail over corruption, and May and Childress, and all the dealers, will not be very happy campers when the LSP and possibly the U.S. DEA shuts them down.

Mr Trent should get behind Mitch Bratton and help him. Too many people in the Sheriff's race will only help keep what we already have, which is next to nothing. Just my opinion, but I'm voting for Bratton.

Wow, just found this site. Do I need to wear hip boots when I come on here? Looks like it can get pretty deep.

It's the same old thing that has been going on in the parish for years. No need for boots but feel free to jump in at any time.

I just found out about this site and I am totally amazed. Everyone has so much to say and won't back it up with their names. If you know the truth why not say who you are. The truth shall set you free. I do not know Mitch Bratton but I do know Steve May. As far as I am concerned he is a fine Christian man. I can not be the judge for you, but, I know the Judge, Jesus Christ. If you are a praying person pray for our leaders don't condemn them until they are proven guilty. Then when the time is here, cast your vote. That is your voice.
