It's actually in the Fairview community, so wouldn't it make sense to name it Fairview Elementary?

Don't really understand why they have changed the name..let me guess the mascot and colors will not be the same as OS?while I understand the sadness of dyllis closing I really don't see a need to change the name and everything about the school.let me guess the youth club isn't gonna b able to use that gym either?

Change the name? It's not a new Dyllis school. It's a totally new school for Oliver Springs Elem. and they're going to let the Dyllis kids go there as well. So since they are mixing the two schools to make one NEW Elementary they need a NEW name. Does that make sense to you? Why would they want to use the old Dyllis gym? They will have a brand new one. It will not be a new school just for Dyllis kids!

I was referring to the use of the new schools gym as the youth club is not allowed to use the current OSES gym I'm guessing they won't be permitted to use the NEW school'S gym.thank goodness the youth club has been allowed to use the dyllis gym since they don't have facilities for the youth club activities.

Yes they have the facilities, it's just Gwen Johnson dosen't want the hassle of the clean up and they have middle school basketball in there. So there's more going on at that school than Dyllis as far as the gym being used. I'm glad they're adding a new school to this community. They also need to take some of the TVA money and have the OSES parking lot paved. It wouldn't cost that much because it's one of the smallest school parking areas I've ever seen.

As someone who attended DES when they were the "Dyllis Demons" iit breaks my heart to see a small icon close it's doors. small community schools pull the community together no matter what the name is. When will the new school be opened?

I am glad to hear they are honoring the two communities with the combined name. I read above that it is a new OS school "just letting the Dyllis kids go there". I was saddened to read that statement. It is a new school for BOTH communities, not just OS getting another new school. I also attended Dyllis Elementary 1-8 then went to Oliver Springs High School 9-12. I am a good mix of both communities, have good friends from both, consider Dyllis my community, Oliver Springs my hometown. I wish the new Dyllis Springs Elementary School much success!!

You need to re read my statement. I said "and they're going to let the Dyllis kids go there as well." By the way someone ask "why they were going to change the name" of Dyllis school. So why wouldn't they? It certainly isn't a brand new school to replace Dyllis. It's nowhere near Dyllis.
