Ski Wing Double Murder 1978

I am looking for any detailed information on this case. I saw on the news it was being reopened, however the only information I can find is the 2002 Article win The Olean Times Herald.. with barely any information. If anyone has anything please post.

My dad work their and was going to go sking that day when it happened. My mother and him know some of the story and facts what happen from friends. She remembers mostly all of it. I was 12 years old and remember this very clearly. My brother worked at Ski wing. We were there the night it happened. He was cleaning skiis before we left. Had i not complained about going home we probably would have been there still. Hard to tell. I can remember seeing the bullet holes in the door casing where the one person was trying to escape. i can remember the office and the safe being gone. the blood on the snow. I spent everyday at ski wing those were the best days. I remember alot about it and the thoughts on it. you could email at shemmy@wi.rr.com

theres a family of goons in the area, one brother was supposedly a strongarm for a local dealer.

What a tragic history Grosstal aka Wing Hollow and Ski Wing had. Someone in another thread wanted to know about the chairlift roll-back that killed a young boy there. I found an article about it. I will leave a link. Does anyone know why or how the brakes failed?

JUSTLOAFING, Please tell me how you found that article.I bought a 12 month subscription to NEWSPAER ARCHIVE,What a joke that is,it has nothing on anything.They claim they have billions of articles, THEY DON'T!!! It was the biggest waste of money I could have ever spent.They have billions of articles on Abe L. George W. etc. get my point.....

I just got lucky. It actually took 3 days for me to find it on Google. I lived in Chautauqua County when it happened and remember it well. Someone asked about it and like I said I just got lucky.

YES, Google A&E unsolved murders in olean ny,it should show you that people have started blogs and are investigating the MANY unsolved murders in OLEAN,smell some rats.

There are way to many unsolved murders for Olean, a small area. Ever look at the demographics... they list aproximately a few Violent crimes in a 10 year period.... an absolute lie but the truth cant be hid forever.

Just found this article: MARCH 10,1978 Safe stolen from resort recovered.In what they call their "first major break" in the investigation of the murders of 2 ski resort employees,NYS Troopers say they have recovered a safe stolen from the resort.Stephen Bender and Michael Forness were fatally shot FEB. 6 when they surprised early-morning burglars who escaped with $18,000 from the wing hollow ski resort. Police found the safe in about 4 feet of water in the nearby Allegany River.The safe weighs about 130/180,"can't read the article" and a triangular hole had been drilled into it apparently so the money and checks inside could be removed.The safe will be shipped to the Stae Crime Lab for test,police said.

You guys are getting this stuff from google? I am having a heck of a time finding barely anything from the olean area in google. I noticed that unless he is on here.. dets from there arnt doing alot. All sites i can find have listings for missing [persons and unsolved cases, but cattaraugus county, olean allegany area is pretty slim. Noticing people from the area arent helpful either.
