thank you! goliad. That is the way this county has been ran for years. city council, among others putting tax payer dollars in their own pockets then wanting to make citizens pay for services that should be provided with that money. thank you for your insight on this.

Mr. Cranick should march down to City Hall and get his property reassessed. These idiots stepped over a quarter to pick up a nickel.

Really? Democrats you say? The entire city council are registered republicans.
Mayor David Neil Crocker
Vice Mayor Keith Curlin
Commissioner (ward 1) Charles Moody
Commissioner (ward 2) Tony Ray Perry
Commissioner (ward 3) Thomas Pettigrew
This is not a political argument.
Those to blame are the city council for not enacting a provision that states that if they save your house and you dont pay your fees head of time, that they can bill you after the fact for cost of the entire rescue.
The firemen are to blame for not taking their duty as firemen seriously and they dishonor any man or woman who put the uniform on and rushed into danger to save someone's life and property.
And finally you are to blame for having little or no compassion for a fellow human being. you are selfish and dispicable for trying to turn this into some sort of political discussion so that you can expouse your rhetoric to make yourself feel more important.
I feel for this homeowner. I cant imagine standing outside my house while the very capable and ready fire department refused to help put out the fire and for anyone to justify this in any way, is beyond me.
This is a political argument. You pay property taxes. You elect these people. Get a clue as to what happens with your money after ELECTED officials get a hold of your money.

<quoted text>They let a man's house burn down over 75 dollars.Fortunately not all people subscribe to your way of thinking. We seen they were making a point, but this time it got out of hand and there will be hell to pay!
Prior to this...no fire protection
Now...$75 for yearly protection

Pay...protected
Don't pay... no protection

If they don't pay and the fire department still puts the fire out, why would ANYONE pay?

This is in the country, not the city. NO city taxes paid. If you live out in the country, take steps to protect yourself. Pay the $75, or plan to fight the fire yourself.

so 75 dollars is what it takes to sell your soul if your a Tennessee fire fighter. Why couldn't they put it out and bill the man? why make him and his children lose everything for this petty about of money. I never thought I would see an America where people defend a policy that makes children homeless over 75 dollars this country is going down the drain. F*** the South Fulton Fire dept.

i say it's time for the state to step in and put this garbage under investugvqation. sounds morer like racketeering than running a county.i call this a little more than running a county. i call it criminal, and an investigation for this is warranted.

It is National news and it is confirmed. Your firefighters are UNAMERICAN. The lowest of the low. If those firefighters just stood there they have no spine. And it is on video. It looks America is going to make sure you have a real fire department. And a real Mayor. You are welcome.

we pay our property taxes, still dont get fire service. if city taxes pay for city fire service. why dont the county set up a county wide fire dept. answer: because all the county taxes are in their pockets. we get the weeds sprayed once a year along side county roads, they might mow 2 times a year. sooooo why not provide county fire dept out of our taxes.

As I am sure there are thousands of people who has done or will do just as I am doing know. I am doing it anyway. SHAME on every one of you. You became firefighters for a reason. My brother is one and I know he would have fetched water with a bucket to have helped put out a fire if he saw one. It is your duty as firemen to serve and protect just as a police officer. Everyone one of you should hold your head down in shame for standing by and allowing that man's house to burn. I dont care that he forgot to pay the annual fee. In this day of our entire countries economic struggle to just stand there and do nothing as this man's house burned to the ground.. Well All I can say is everyone of you should serious rethink your living. If money is what drives you then maybe stop doing a job that is to HELP someone in need and just go and become another money grubber trader from Wall street!. SHAMe on every last one of you!

I got through about the first part of your sentence before I could not read anymore. I believe I agree with what you're saying, but you really need to add punctuation to your statement. I'm not trying to be a grammar cop, but you took the time to respond and I'm sure you want people to read it. It's almost impossible to do so without periods and commas.

what if there would have been kids in there? you mean to say that 75 dollars is worth more than a home full of lifetime and memorys, i would be ashamed to be a fireman there! i was glad to hear the son assaulted the cheif, cause he could have morally done a civil duty other than a rule on paper in a book. was that rule on paper worth it or would the human thing to do been to do what you were trained for ? i think i would have been a better person to have helped other than worry bout my 75 $ fee, im glad i dont live there. if i was a person that lived next door i would have told them my house was on fire to get them there, cause my mom taught me how to care for each other, she never said only help the ones who pay their taxes.

When I saw the topic, thought it was some kind of 'benefit' to raise money for the volunteer FD somewhere...I thought folks were gonna buy tickets to watch the firefighters in action while burning a house (one that was gonna be torn down, of course)
After reading the posts, it's awful and pray it never happens in our neck of the woods. Our community firefighters are made up mostly of volunteers.

See, a town has certain functions it provides for the taxes it charges. One of them is police. Another is a fire dept. Now, when the Powers-that-be withhold those functions because a fee wasn't paid, it means that the powers-that-be own you.
A combination of fees and taxes? Hmmmm.
BTW doesn't this town have a volunteer fire-dept? Or is it totally owned and not allowed by the Democrat Machine?
NEWS FLASH! The govornment DOES own us. You, me, everyone, and they gave us "Media" to keep our minds off of how increasingly smaller and smaller our cage is becoming. Not that it matters. That chief will have to resign and we all know it. Therer will be an official investigation and an overhaul to the fire dept in that area. This is because, while our masters are reptiles, they are not so blind that they cannot see the error in what happened at that fire. So just take a deep breath, sit back, and give it 6 months to a year and the matter will be semi-permanently resolved.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Pisces

There's a clash today between the past and the present. Someone wants to dwell nostalgically on the good old days but someone else is determined to forget all that and only concentrate on the here and now. The trouble is that neither side will want to concede to the other person's point of view, leading to bad feelings and upsets. If you are one of these people, try not to be too entrenched in your own opinions.
