Round about mainly will cause problems

The newly built roundabout at the entrance of Palmer Hill on Havemeyer Lane is an example of poor planning and inept impact studies.

As the owner of a nearby condominium, I completely agree. The roundabout appears to exist for the sole benefit of the developer. It is not easy for automobiles to negotiate, say nothing of a fire engine, delivery truck or moving van. Clearing it of snow and ice will be more than a chore. Since the development is already served by a rear access exiting via stoplight onto Palmer's Hill, was all this mayhem necessary?

Oh wow- does that development use the light by the elementary school?
I drive past that new circle every day on the way to work. I agree it's going to be a mess in the snow.
However, I disagree that Havemeyer Lane is "not a place that one would consider in need of traffic-calming, even at its most traveled times." People go much faster than the posted 25mph speed limit, causing great danger to people trying to turn out of the neighborhoods.
I often see cars have to inch out from Catoona Lane, sticking their noses into traffic going closer to 40mph.
With the new development, more cars will be on Havemeyer, making it even harder to get out of the side roads, not to mention the parking disaster that is the nail salon!

Well, the parking at that nail salon is just ridiculous anyway, with a zillion nail salons in Stamford, why anyone would go there, I can't imagine.

Apparently, the developer doesn't know the history of Havemeyer Lane. For decades, people have used it at high speeds. I hope it well be well marked and well lit at night, if not, we may be seeing frequent accidents there.
Going West causes you to slow down to 5 mph or less to manage that curve!
It's a great idea to finally get people to slow down!

The main reason that circle was created was due to that piece of property right at the entrance was Greenwich land. In order to build Greenwich made the developer put in a roundabout so that no piece of tha tproperty could be marked as Greenwich zip. It was for zoning regulations. Greenwich gifted that 50 by 50 piece of land to Stamford Palmer Hill only with the idea of a perm. solution. Hence the round about.
