He should be given the job of the guy responsible for this mistake.

I hope you win in court, but as crazy as things are these days, I can see you getting sued in civil court for the 3500.00. That would be the crowning insult. There's an incentive for jails to keep one in as long as they can. They in many cases, are reimbursed for the expense of housing inmates. I'm not sure if thats the case here, but I'd look into it.

Where in the article is anything at all mentioned about drinking and driving? Only driving on a suspended license is indicated, nothing about driving drunk is even suggested. |

Why does every article have to have a comment about the obama admin or healthcare reform. this has nothing to do with either. It was an unfortunate mistake, which everyone has made mistakes at their jobs, and yes, he will be rewarded as he should be rewarded for a mistake like this. they should also find him a job and give support with his child support hearing since they screwed him on that too. poor guy.

You do not want to end up in the Johnson County KS Court system, once they have you, they have a paycheck. Excuses are easy and nobody to claim otherwise. Once they have you in their grips, look out. You will lose your job, thus cannot pay the fines, then they will jail you for not paying your fines, then farm you out all over Kansas and the bill keeps getting higher. No way out unless you have rich friends. Follow the $$, that will always lead you to the truth.

1 So the state makes a buck off the detainee's, but the cost is losing the occasional citizen while in detention. |

I can tell you from personal experience that he will not even get a reach around. I spent a week in jail over someone elses traffic tickets. A few years ago, while I was in another state, someone was stopped three different times and given tickets for speeding, no insurance and failure to provide a picture identification. Thats right, FAILURE TO PROVIDE PICTURE IDENTIFICATION, so how did they know who they were talking to. Fortunately I had proof that I was not the person that recieved those tickets, military service in another state, but I was treated like GARBAGE by everyone I came in contact with. From the arresting officers to the presiding judge. After proving my case and having my record cleared I did not even recieve a "sorry for the mix up". Hopefully I don't run into any of those A-HOLES seeking medical attention in the hospital where I work.

This guy was held up in the new New Century Air Center jail, which the county is SO proud of, the largest building seen for miles in the middle of a little town (6000 pop.), they e even had an opening day offering "pictures" of you in jail for a fee and they would donate it to a kids group. The only takers were employees - talk about sad, nothing to be proud of, 3 stories of people that got caught in the system, many of whom will not leave for a very long time, that includes minor infractions compared to some things going on in our world. Follow the $$, it will lead you to the truth.

Maybe I missed something, but don't inmates get use of the phone once a day? I'm not sure - I've never been to jail, but I think that's how it works. So, if that is the case and this guy had *some* kind of family or lawyer or friend, coworker, or whatever - did he call them at the crack of dawn on day 3? And his work - call them and let them know he was being held against his will and against the judgement of the court. But, the strange thing is, how was he going to get home in the first place? Certainly not drive. So, was he going to take the bus? Or was someone supposed to pick him up at the end of day 2? If someone was supposed to pick him up, where were they, and why didn't they question it when they couldn't?
I don't know...maybe he lived within walking distance. But something just doesn't seem right to me. |

Your a morom. |

Sue the knickers off 'em!
|

Yup, that's how they do it. Just like to police never there when you need them and always there when you don't. I hope you sue the pants off the jail, judge and city. Good luck!!!!

This is typical with the criminal justice system in America - the land of the "free" and the home of the brave. This man is a brave soul for taking on "those/system(s)" that have wronged him. He can expect everything and be compensated for nothing after another legal nightmare - attorney fees. We have the largest prisoner population in the world, without being the largest populated country. What's wrong with that picture? I'll tell you...the criminal justice system has become a business and must profit from it. This man could have stayed in a nice hotel for under $100 a night!

A guy walks into a bar and states, "All attorneys are a**holes. Another gentleman at the other end of the bar says, "I object to that." The 1st gentleman says, "why...are you an attoney." The other guy at the end of the bar says, "No, I am a**hole."

"Toto, I don't believe we're in Kansas anymore...we must be over the...or in the barrel, and we're really not going to like Thursdays here: when they serve the (5) cold Tater Tots, the warm carton of expired milk, and the cold/plain, soy hamburger patty...every Thursday...and call it proper nutrition for an inmate - or should I say...fellow American...you can get better food at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter...been there..did it...got the Orange jumpsuit/flip-flops that were three sizes too small...and had to sleep on the floor for two weeks...wasn't enough space for everyone to have a bunk...not even a reacharound or a sorry...and if you wish to call someone, you can use the phone daily, after 0900 hrs...and if you call, it has to be collect to the other party...at $1.99 a minute. Cell phone calls are not even that expensive overseas...let alone to a relative...attorney (who will not accept collect calls) and any other person you think might help you out of your predicament.
