The Oklahoma Health Care Freedom Amendment is on the November 2, 2010 ballot in the state of Oklahoma as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment.

The measure is in response to potential federal health care provisions, and would allow residents to get out of any health care mandates. As a result, the proposal, if enacted, would categorize a law that would require residents, employers or health care providers to participate in any health care system unconstitutional.

How will you vote on November 2nd?

Well, on this one, I'm voting yes. Oklahomans should have a choice about whether they want to participate in a health care program. I voted for Obama, but the health care "solution" his administration is going to initiate will be a disaster in my opinion. It's not fair to force residents to enroll in a health care program, and by doing so, it only lines the pockets of insurance companies instead of getting to the root of the problem, which is sky-high medical costs in the USA.

Now, I've given my opinions on the November elections. I bet I'm the only one too, everybody else in Hugo is too busy worrying about who's a whore and who's on drugs. Very sad.

i hope you people DO vote to pull out. i just spent a long weekend out that way, and based on what i saw, and what i already know about the relative allocation of federal dollars to states versus the contributions from those states, y'all independent-minded don't tread on me Okies are already on welfare, and progressive states like my adopted home are footing the bill for all the ignorant, self-destructive behavior out there. just be sure and write into the amendment that whoever can't - or won't - pay their own way, gets to die, period, and none of this "you can't make me buy insurance but i can go to the ER and the taxpayers have to save me" stuff.

BTW, your comments about Hugo - everywhere I went in several towns this weekend was just the same... what happened to the great state I left in 1982?

Should be if you op out of the federal insurance, then you pay your own way like the man said. Fair enough, if you do not want insurance go the repuplicians way: "If you get sick, die quickly."

No government at ANY level should be able to force a citizen to buy something they DONT want. I dont give flip about any of the constitutional issues, this is common sense that plainly spells out BS!!!! Any person that is happy to live in the US because of the freedom they deserve should absolutely refuse to cooperate in any way with this act of tyranny.

I don't know what you all are talking about.. you are already forced to buy things.. for instance.. CAR INSURANCE.. everyone HAS to buy car insurance.. how is this any different? My cost should not have to go up, simply because someone else cannot afford to pay.

so you all don't want Obama care.. ok then tell me how we are going to pay (as a state) for ALL people to be covered by some type of insurance.. Are they going to raise your taxes?

Yeppers, only people who choose to own and drive a car are forced to buy car insurance.

I know. Transportation is a necessity; but what about my elderly friends who do not own cars and drive? They depend on their neighbors and family members or the KATZ bus when they have to go somewhere.

Should they be forced to buy car insurance?

The big deal about forcing people to purchase insurance is there are some who prefer to self insure. They have medical savings accounts they put money into instead of purchasing insurance and when they have a medical cost, they pay for it them self.

That is just for starters.

I will be voting YES on SQ756 and voting for John Doak for State Insurance Commissioner.

ObamaCare takes that option away from them. By 2014 everyone must have health care insurance, or you will be fined. They are going to hire 16,000 new IRS people to make sure those fines get paid.

If your employer provides health care insurance for you and your family, the cost of that insurance is going to be added to your earned income and you will have to pay taxes on it.

Unless you have one of those Cadillac union policies. You know how they are going to pay for that? By removing vision and dental coverage for children.

Medicare patients are going to have to take a number and wait to be seen by whoever the Obama Team decides to send them too.

Only if you own and drive a car, which most everyone does, but you ARE NOT forced to.

I dont want health care. If I get typically sick, I pay cash (much cheaper), if I get sick enough to die, just let me go in peace and I wont burden you with paying my bill. No hospitals, no ambulance rides, I'll just lie in my bed and go quietly. Bobe of that costs you a dime.

Sorry ..cash is NOT cheaper. I had a medical situation which was covered by Insurance. Cost?$78,000. My share $8,000.

So the Insurance Company paid $70,000...Right?

No, they negotiated a discount down to $20,000!!!! FOR THEM.

I was still on the hook for $8,000..... and if I had not had Insurance, just cash? I'd have been on the hook for $78,000!!!

Oh..and if you (pfft) change your mind as you (potentially) lie there on your death bed? It's an emergency and the ambulance and the Dr. and the hospital have to treat you and then they will bankrupt you if you don't have the cash!

Why do you have to carry car insurance? Think about your answer. The reason you and I HAVE to carry car insurance is to protect and pay for damage you might cause as a driver. Also you have to carry insurance to protect the bank if you wreck your car. Same for house insurance(you have to protect the bank). If you own your car free and clear and don't drive it on public roads you do not have to insure your car.

thats not true if you want to tag your car.. it HAS to be insured..

insurance is also to protect you from having to pay in the event of someone elses fault.

Here is how it works for Health insurance...
I have insurance.. Another person pay cash.. and 3 other people in Oklahoma are without insurance and without the means to pay cash.(thats about right for the state)
So.. my cost..and the cost of the person paying cash WILL be higher because someone has to pay for the uninsured. The cost at this time is being redistributed to those who are otherwise covered.

So you don't want to pay for anothers healthcare for whatever reason.. Then it is in your best interest if everyone is insured, and is responsible for their own insurance. If it remains like it is.. you will continue to incur the cost of others, and the cost will go up. I don't know about you all.. but hospital cost are WAY more than they should be.. Next time you have to go GET AN ITEMIZED statement..then tell me all is well as it is.

The only reason to tag your car in so you can drive it on public roads. Don't drive your car on public roads you don't need insurance. It doesn't matter hows fault it is as long as everyone that uses public carries insurance.
How are the people that currently do not have insurance, going to pay when it is required? They won't. We will have to pick up their cost. Heck why stop there, lets pay for their car insurance also or how about their house insurance or their kids collage. Where do you stop?
