You posted:"There is NO law that requires the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma to give money to school systems within its jurisdiction." BS. Plain & simple. ANY monies that the tribes make within the State of Oklahoma is TAXED. Maybe not utilizing that word precisely, but the effect is the same. Part of doing business! If you still believe me to be in error, prove it. Show me the law; just don't say it isn't so ... for that means NADA.

I also see some disgust from MANY to MOST on here. You shouldn't feel "special". TO "JAD" aren't you 3 people? There's only so many people in "Vilonia, AR" LOL Smile. $106M is great but do you realize that the trial casinos other than the two that are located at Will Rogers Down and Blue Ribbon Downs are self monitored. The tribes are only accountable to themselves, therefore, the state doesn't have a clue as to the "real" amount that the tribes collect. The state is at their mercy as to the % they receive.

I don't feel special, just fyi. And it was hate, name calling, pettiness, baseless accustions and overall vindictiveness among other things in another thread. Sorry you missed that one.

justsayin wrote: <quoted text> The tribes are subject to the compacts and federal laws. They are not self-regulated. We agree? Did the earth stop turning or what? LOL FYI to other interested parties; the tribes ARE subject to some limited regulation from the States as well, but for the most part the Feds do regulating by law/treaty. Eg.; If gaming is not allowed within the States borders, then the tribes can not pursue that means of income within said State (see TEXAS). Also, all "discounted" cigarettes ARE subjected to a State tax; just a "smaller" one when purchased through a tribal entity. To "JAD" & "his" friends ("McNutSack" & "Karl Schneider") in the metropolis of Vilonia, AR. et al - "The Trooper" is somewhat correct; words only express so much & I respond IN KIND. Remember that when it comes time for you to whine about my seemingly "hurtful" (LOL) remarks. They're only WORDS. I do smile much of time when I respond with sarcasm, do YOU?

Our Schools all across Oklahoma are receiving money from these tribes.. not juts a select few. My childrens school here in the PC district received brand new elevators and new interactive learning screens for every room in the school for learning uses. We see the money in our schools.. so start asking where yours is being used.

I understand that many people tend to hate whatever the tribes may/may not do in this town and somehow it always comes back to they don't have to do this or the government forced them to do that (fyi, the government forced the Cherokees to walk the Trail of Tears too, and that turned out so well). For those of you who hate everything and anything that the tribes stand for, including the casinos and smoke shops et. al, stop and think for a half of a second. Those places are employing tribal members (as well as non tribal members) who most likely would be on welfare if they didn't have the job opportunites that have been created by this type of commerce. Then you'd complain because they were on welfare. You cannot have it both ways. I actually thought Oklahoma was becoming less racist, guess I was wrong. Hate runs deep.

"Those places are employing tribal members (as well as non tribal members)" Not QUITE the WHOLE truth there, is it "just sayin'"???!!! The tribes DO discriminate against non-members. If a non-member applies for a job & is MORE qualified than a tribal member ... guess who gets the job? It's NOT the "non-tribal member" & that IS what I'm JUST SAYIN'!!!!
