I need a new stove. All I can ever buy is a used dinosaur after another but maybe with this I could actually afford a new one. Why aren't stoves a part of this incentive? It makes about as much sence as the cash for clunkers.

They are not going to give you enough to make it that big of a savings... as soon as the guy in the interview said "The real savings are in the utility bills" I figured as much.

They left out the one appliance that uses the most energy - dishwashers. Used every day and use two forms of energy, water and electric.

This is going to be just another waste of taxpayer money with very few benefiting from it.

Well here the government goes spending our tax dollars in a wastefull & stupid way again. When will people understand in the long run they will get stuck with the bill & paying for it by higher taxes.

u obviously dont have and energy star appliance! read my post. my savings on my electric bill alone are astrinomical! refrigerators use more elec than any appliance..the old style defrosts were behemoths that constantly ran..the new computer controlled ones..WHICH ARE SUPER QUIET! run every 60 hours. u do the math..i can prove it with my public service bills..dont begrudge someone the opportunity to save a buck! and HELP YOU when power consumption reduces...we buy a fighter jet for less money than this program, good trade off to me

I have an appliance that needs stimulus. It's dirty window panes. Could someone be sent out to break them all out and replace them with new clean glass? All for "free", of course.

My rural electric company (Lake Region) is currently giving rebates to its members on Energy Star Applianes (Washer $100, Dishwashers $50, Window A/C $50, Heat Pumps $150 -$500 per ton, & Marathon Hot Water Heaters $200. Check with your Rural Electric Cooperative they may be doing the same.

How can so many not see that this is just more socialism? Hussein has brought about "Change" just like he said he would. We now collect taxes to spread around for people to buy cars, refrigerators, etc. Our children and grandchildren will be stuck with the bills.

Better the money go back to the people and increase sells at stores that keep people employed.
It will simulated me to invest at a time that I am cautious about spending anything I don't have the cash for. I'm living with a 30 year old refrigerator and just waiting for the thing to die before having to purchase another one. At my age 64 still working 2 part time jobs and running a home business to make ends meet. This is money that can be utilized now instead of raises for upper management as has been done with some of the stimulus money. I know that for a fact has happened.

This program doesn't make any financial sense. Use taxpayer money to rebate to a select group of taxpayers who happen to need a new appliance. I just bought a new appliance but yet I won't get a rebate since I didn't get it in the 2 week window that the central government scheduled. Same thing with cash for clunkers and the $8000 tax credit given to people buying homes right now. The constitution strictly forbids any tax that is not spent equally among the tax base. But who cares what the constitution says, huh? Plus, every dollar they give away has to be confiscated from someone else and on top of that another substantial amount of money is spent administering the program not to mention fraud and waste. Remember Katrina? WHen Obama starts declaring that the economy is getting better, don't beleive him, they are just shuffling OUR money around and wasting a bunch in the process!

We are giving over countries jobs building those new autos and appliances with our stimulus money? Most of the new vehicles and appliances ARE Built overseas, NOT here in the USA by our own workers.

They will end up raising our taxes to pay for all these STUPID stimulus packets and we will be paying for all these cars and appliances and what ever else they can come up with

I could use a new washer. Mine is 20 years old. Problem is, I don't have the money to buy one. Just like cash for clunkers. Now I worry that my taxes this year will be sky high and I won't be able to pay them.

This whole concept of cash for clunkers is the most absurd socialistic thing we have ever witnessed in this country. The response to this by some Oklahomans is the same as the response from the people in Detroit when asked where the money came from and their answer was "Obama". "Where did he get it?" "I don't know, but we love him."
W#here will all of the old appliances go? To those who could not afford to buy a new on even with the stimulus rebate. What is to be gained???
Wake up America!!!

You know, these "Cash for Clunkers" programs may sound good for the economy, but really they are NOT. The auto industry found that out. The "Clunkers" program for cars was good for the auto industry for a month or two, then it just went back to the way it was. Just ask a car dealer. If it was so good, why is GM still selling off parts of its company? Why are the auto manufacturer's still losing money? So, will this new "Clunkers" progra for appliances really help? Yes, for a month or two. Just like the auto industry.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Taurus

Catch up with the chores today, especially if you've got a long list of them and you want to get through them all before Christmas. You're feeling nicely efficient without wanting to work yourself into the ground, so carry on at a steady pace. A few well-chosen words in a certain person's ear will be more effective than a lengthy conversation at other times.
