When you start working for HD, it's made very clear from the begining that you cannot wear any hat, pins, logos on shirts, etc. that are not approved by HD. I'm not a corporate type, but follow the rules

If they had the rule and and he wore the button for a long time and they didn't do anything, it does now look like discrimination. If you didn't uphold the policy until he brought his Bible, then something is wrong. While I don't like people being sue happy, he probably has a case. Good luck.

This a55clown violated a written company policy. He was fired. When he brought a bible to lunch, he did not help his case. What if a Muslim brought a copy of the Koran to Home Depot to read on HIS lunch break. The press would have been all over that too. But the locals would have called for a lynching,(or at least a HD boycott).
Too bad free speech DOES NOT APPLY TO PRIVATELY OWNED ENTITIES. He agreed to the policy at time of hire, therefore he knew the policy and chose to violate it. You bible loving idiots, who let a book of ancient stories dictate your lives should all join together and open your own hardware store. You can call it "I am a Christian and my beliefs trump all of yours and I am better than you, and your policy should not interfere with what we think....DEPOT." (I myself am a god fearing Christian, however, policy is policy and employees MUST abide and follow the rules. Worship on your own time.)
Point is, what if a Jewish homeowner came in to HD to buy $30K worth f cabinets and flooring and saw that button? He may decide to go somewhere else and spend his 30 grand. THAT'S WHY THERE IS A POLICY IN PLACE!!

This is my cousion, he is a man of God. Home Depot did him wrong befor they fired him they sent him home days, b/c he wouldn't take him pin off that went on for a week, then the last day they fire him. All he is trying to do is make some money to go to school, and jobs are hard to come by down here. so for all the people that think this should have happen to him your wrong. Trever is a good hearted person and would do anything for anybody even if he didn't know who you were.
It has nothing to do with whether or not "Trever is a good hearted person" it has to do with company policy. The fact that they did not enforce the policy immediately only means he got away with violating that policy until someone noticed it and asked him to remove the pin. You said they sent him home every day for a week before firing him. That sounds like they gave him plenty of chances to "earn some money to go to school" if he really wanted to. He agreed to abide by the company policies when he was hired. Signed a paper to that effect. They gave him a week's worth of chances to adhere to the company policy before firing him. He must not have needed that job as much as you think he did, huh?

Sounds like an excellent plan to make some money to me. Stop trying to make him out to look like some mistreated victim. I would love to see how much he is suing for. Bad guy trying to look good. Stop using God to commit your immoral behavior dude.

Was he fulltime? If he was I bet Home Depot paid for part of that schooling.

Buttons have many medicinal uses. They can be employed to cover ugly, unwanted nipples. Buttons can also be used to attach flapping lips together as to avoid running at the mouth syndrome. I would be glad to provide furthur technical training to the folks at Home Depot any time it is requested.

Sorry guys, in my opionion, he was probably just a shity worker and this was the last issue they found to fire him. FYI after this happened, Home Depot handed out approved pins that say "united we stand," which i found to be funny as hell.

[okay, so what about the employee who wears a shirt with an american flag and eagle on it on veterans day? he should have been told to change because he's "expressing" his personal beliefs. HD can fire anybody for any reason. ITS WHAT THEY DO!

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Scorpio

If you're feeling brave enough, you should get out all your receipts`, and then tot up how much you've spent this month. Or don't you have the courage to do so? It will be far better to know the truth than to pretend that everything's all right. But don't let it spoil what promises to be a delightfully enjoyable and rather emotional day.
