Well, the reason it's so expensive to do is because it has needed to be done for more than 20 years. 20 years of costs compounded on each other adds up. Same thing with highway 75 and 169.....the longer you wait, the more expensive its going to be. Tulsa, or Oklahoma for that matter has yet to realize that you must build the infrastructure BEFORE you have the businesses come in.

The entire widening project is questionable. They have removed enough homes and business to widen the hwy to more than 10 lanes each direction, but are only adding one each. Sounds like basic engineering classes were missed. Just look at the Yale Ave and I-44 project and how it turned out.

I never use this highway any more, I'd rather drive out of my way to avoid it at all costs. IMO this is stupid because by the time they get this construction completed, it will be time to widen it again... just like 169. SSDD.

What they REALLY need to work on is the nightmare area where the BA merges on to the westbound lanes of I-44. Trying to merge in there is a fiasco and a wreck waiting to happen. Stupid engineers put an interchange ramp in the same place where the highway narrows to two lanes and one lane also exits to 41st street at the same time. Idiots.

That's because they will build temporary roads so the existing roads can be rebuilt and widened. They won't just add another lane. If they didn't do it this way, there would be huge traffic problems and the road would need to be redone again in a few years. Looks to me like they are doing it right.

The highway patrol will be on duty; choking the bejeezus out of anyone who backs up traffic.

Typical drivers, gripe if the road is narrow, but don't want construction. Gripe if it is rough but don't want the cones in their way while being patched. I say, stay home and out of the workers way and they will get it done sooner or take a back street to where you are going. Oops, I forgot, you can't drive 80 mph on the back streets. Not supposed to anyway.

I'm with you on this. This project has needed to be done for about 15 years. Why has it taken so long to finally gat around to doing it? And why didn't they start up where the last I-44 widening project ended (at the BA interchange) and work their way towards the river? Now, we're going to have nice wide sections with a crap section sandwiched in between that will take another 15 years to get done.
