City of Ocoee opens employee health clinic

Is this in lieu of health coverage for the employees? It seems a great deal of taxpayer money already goes to offsetting governmental employees healthcare costs - is this saving them, and the taxpayers, money in the longrun. Or just racking up the bill even further?

Response: Excellent questions Melissa...Actually, this is a service that augments their health plan (not replacing it) and it is completely voluntary for the employees and dependents. This actually lowers their overall cost, since they are self-funded and passes the savings to the city and down to the taxpayers. The ROI is 3:1, and has been proven out in other Cities/Counties.
