"Am I the only one who misses Colonial Mall — Jordan Marsh and its Oakmont Room, Belk's, Gibbs Louis, Brenner's and Lillie Rubin?"

Yes.

To the person who thinks it's safer to drive under the speed limit: you need a reality check. I can't tell you how many accidents I've had to avoid because traffic is having to go around someone driving too slow. Not to say that driving at or above the limit is any safer, but come on...driving too slow is absolutely a danger.

"I'm ticked off at the driver who hit and killed a Mallard duck in front of Windsor Landing on Maguire Road in Ocoee. His body is still in the road with his feathers blowing in the wind. Just when I thought I'd seen it all, I'm reminded that I haven't. I've never seen a dead duck in the road before."

Sounds like you have lived a sheltered life.

You mean there are happy funerals out there?

Some of us plan our days and commutes based on how much time it should take us to get to and from work or to and from multiple stops. When some inconsiderate person is driving 10 MPH under the speed limit it holds everyone up that has somewhere to be. You are disrupting traffic and slowing productivity of many people who drive for a living.
I should not have to calculate an additional 10 minutes into my daily schedule just because you can't drive. If you are that scared of driving 65 MPH, get off the highway!
BTW, you can be ticketed for driving too slow. It is illegal to impede the normal flow of traffic.

Are you spoiled, lazy or cheap? What is your excuse for not bringing your own tissues with you? I'm guessing, all of the above.

Comment From Ticked Off, "I'm the white Silverado who drives 10 mph under the speed limit. Hey, bum, it's speed limit not over speed limit! If you're in such a big hurry, leave earlier. It's safer to drive below the limit."

If you're creating an unsafe condition,by driving too slowly, then it's not safer. If you are doing it in the passing lane, you are violating the law. If you are in the right lane and not slowing the normal flow of traffic, then carry on.

Comment to Ticked Off, "The made-up word "SNUCK" seems to have sneaked into the vocabulary."

Try another dictionary. My "Franklin Language Master" Lists "SNEAKED or SNUCK" so either is OK.

b. What's wrong with making up words? I made up the word snackage and many people love & enjoy it.

"I can't get Florida oranges in Virginia either. They ship them 3,000 miles from California when Florida is only 1,000 miles away. I think I will move back to Florida."

That's because most Florida oranges are turned into JUICE! The types of oranges grown here are best suited for juice, not for eating. Florida supermarkets carry California oranges, just like the stores everywhere else in the county.

You want to EAT Florida oranges? You'll have to go to a road-side stand run by a grove. That's your only option.

"I am sick of the poor customer service I receive from retail store clerks. They are slow, dim and devoid of personality, much less manners."

why don't you try dealing with idiots like yourself all day long for minimum wage and we'll see how long you have a good customer service attitude.

>The Clermont fire department shops and sits in restaurants wearing bunker pants. Bring your uniform with you, or at least all of you dress alike and try to look professional!<
Be thankful you have firefighters who are willing to risk their lives for your safety. Don't complain about what they are wearing when they shop and eat because we know you will complain if someone you love dies because they had to stop to change to go take care of a fire at your home.

This is s valid complaint. I shop at the Walmart on 441 in Altamonte Springs and am amazed at the emp-loyees restocking or just going from one area of the store to the other, they don't move out of your way or even appologize if they run into you. Although the majority of the cashiers are very nice and I enjoy my little 2 minutes conversations with them. regardless of how you are paid though, you should treat people well and more often than not they will treat you well right back. Kindness begets kindness.

Agreed, just because they are making minimum wage and dealing with rude people doesn't give them the right to be rude as well. If you keep up the bad attitude you will be making nothing more than minimum wage for the rest of your life. Maybe if you treat all people with more kindness your life might change by someone you encounter who truly appreciates it.

"The made-up word snuck seems to have sneaked into the vocabulary. They use it on local news and in print in books. It must be the same people who think that drug is the past tense of drag. Where are these people educated? They must have communication degrees to get their job!"

"Nonwords" are all around us. How about "irregardless"? There are some which WERE "nonwords" which were so widely used the English majors finally just gave up, such as accountable, answerable, controversialist, conversationalist, donate, exponential, jeopardize, practitioner, and presidential.

Yep, all "nonwords".

Under 45 mph on a state highway is illegal, that's the only number I've ever heard.

Perhaps unemployment would improve your attitude?

Funny, last time I checked, SNUCK was in the dictionary.
