If the allegations set forth in this report are true, the firing of this Chief of Police is completely justified.

As the leader of a police department, this individual should have know better on how to conduct himself. Asking another person for an aspirin will not get you fired from any place, but asking for prescription pain medication is not only inappropriate, it is illegal. The other allegations seem rather petty and could have been excused. The slapping of aonther employee, if not done in a violent manner, could be considered horseplay and even a morale booster in some instances. The pointing of a taser could also be construed as playfull behavior. Chiefs are supposed to be leaders, not just managers. A Chief that can playfully interact with his troops is a rare thing in today's police culture. A Chief that can interact playfully with his troops but also asks for prescription pain medication from another employee (on multiple occassions) displays maturity issues. A Chief that gets caught soliciting prescription pain medication (I am assuming something narcotic) and then claims that he did not know that what he was doing was illegal, well, that shows either extreme incompetency, or someone being a complete liar. In either case, this person essentially proved himself incapable of command.

Good luck to OPD in their search for a new leader.

He wants to be reinstated to 'finish what he started'? What is that exactly, make Ocoee looks as corrupt as Orlando? Dude, you were unfit to hold that office.

Reffett is a great man who was mixed up in a department that is being shaken by mole or a backstabber that was under qualified for the chief job so he was demoted and reffett became the chief. The deputy is as bad as ex-city manager gleason. What is wrong with asking for an aspirin? People that work in a police station joke around just like the fire department and other close communicating departments. I bet if you got rid of the deputy chief and his supporters, our police station would work as a family again. I love living in Ocoee and I can see where things are turning for the best and not being flooded with the crime of the next door communities.

Last time I checked many painkillers are narcotics, which possession of is a FELONY!

Why should this dumba$$ think he should be let off while arresting people children for possession of some pot.

Sorry chief be glad firing is all you got, loser! SOme jail time and drug conseling and a felony record is more in line with it!

I was working under former Chief Ronald Reffett for several years and I can attest that he is one of a very UNSTABLE leader to work for. His moods swing like a woman in their meno-pause; in one minute he can be a super nice guy and then the next minute he will bite your head off. I believe he may be suffered from some types of DEPRESSION, possibly Bi-Polar Manic Depression. I know for facts he takes blue pills and that he must take naps after lunch hours for at least 15-30 minutes. He was my former Executive Officer, then promoted to District Chief in District 1 (Pembroke Park/Unincorporated South Broward County) and he was also my Echo Field Force Commander. Yes, he was a very STRANGE boss to work for. All of us on Echo Field Force dodged him like dodging bullets, especially after lunch hours. He was acting like a Jackal and Hyde type of DOUBLE PERSONALITIES. Call BSO District 1 and talk to the deputies and sergeants about Ronald Reffett, especially meetings for the Powertrac. Reffett was former Sheriff and now CONVICTED Ken Jenne's CRONIES. This isn't a SURPRISE to all of us deputies, who once served under his command.

Ronald Reffett has two side of him. He is okay after a couple of pills and 2 bottles of beers outside if uniforms. In uniforms, he can be very UNPREDICTABLE and Signal 20 as well. Unfortunately, Occoee PD did not do a through background on him. I was surprised that the city offerred him the job in the first place. He was under IA while serving in Deerfield Beach (BSO District 10) for destroying an Uniform Traffic Citation that was issued to a City Manager understaff by a BSO Traffic Unit. Reffet left the agency before the conclusion of the IA investigation. Also he was reprimanded for Sexual Harassment while working in the Oakland Park PD. I am not surprise to see him get BOOTED. He is not a man of good character and leader. He is more like a Dirty Politician. He will use you and abuse you. In another word, He will SCREW you and not even giving you a KISS after an INTERCOURSE.

Boy oh boy, Ron Reffett appeared before television and pleading his job back, that is so SHAMEFUL to a man so EGOISTICAL. Reffett has always been known to all the BSO Field Force members as a STUBBORN, Cold-Hearted leader, who will do whatever it takes to advance himself while sacrificing his own troops. Is that a good leader one asks??? His intimidation and Bull-headed leadership style will not last long in Law Enforcement of a cilvilian life. Those who served under him and along him can attest to his UNPREDICTABLE behavior. By the way, South Florida Law Enforcement community can live without him and his Convicted FELON Ken Jenne, former Sheriff of Broward County Sheriff''s Office

I was under Ron Reffett's commands in two different units at BSO and that I can ATTEST to this man's UNPREDICTABLE behaviors. He's a very STRANGE man to work for. He loves to intimidate people with his stature. In our Field Force, we used too call him Signal 20 Don. If you know the meaning of the Signal 20, then I need to say no further. Was he a good leader, NOT. He was Ken Jenne's puppet, so therefore, we got what we want out of him, but we had no respect for him.

I never dealt with Mr. Reffett one-on-one but I have been at a couple of Home Owner Association Meetings he was kind enough to attend. We saw increased police presence and a decrease in vandalism. I think the results he got were great but he obviously has some workplace edict issues. It's a shame that a man with such knowledge and leadership ability can't police his own actions.

I have heard rumors from inside sources about his dependency on prescription medications so the fact that he was terminated after a drug related incident is no surprise. I feel bad for those employees that had to make the decision to go over his head but it was the right thing to do and the City Manager who had to terminate a friend. I want to believe that Mr. Reffett is a good person who has a prescription drug problem.

For those individuals from South Florida that are under the impression that the City of Ocoee is a rural, "back-woods", "good-old-boy" community, you're wrong. I encourage you to pay a visit to our city and try to find one cow, one orange grove, or even a dirt road for that matter. We deal with the same problems as Orlando, Miami, WPB, Jacksonville, and Tampa.

I hope Mr. Reffett finds some help with his problem. I wish him and his family the best during this tough time.
