I understand what you are saying. What I have been saying is instead of finger pointing and blame, what can we learn from this?
I have been emotionally harshly judged, but the question remains: What can be learned, and what advice would those who have been through this offer to their friedns and neighbors?
Make that friends. I apologize for the typo.

Warning dont' ever ride double on any atv especially 4 wheelers !!!!! Please don't allow kids to do so ive known so many deaths from that in kids my boys raced quads for years know and respect what can happen. Parents should have to watch a video before purchasing atvs on kids and accidents. Dept of public safety should show such videos to school age children so they also can be educated. I love atvs but education on dangers can save alot of lives and parental supervision goes a long way. I pray the boy will recover.

I just love all the armchair quarterbacks. We live in a great country where you can, not have all the information, make judgement and freely express our rush to judgement opinions. maybe, its the ATV manufacturers fault, haven't heard them blamed yet? Has anybody thought the time spent sharing our knowledge could have been spent sharing our prays and would have got alot more accomplished! just a thought!

My prayers are with Jacob and his family. I pray for a full recovery and the boy who was driving will need help knowing that this was an accident and accidents do happen. I hope they both recover well and this turns into a learning experience instead of a tragedy.

Are there any new updates on Jacob?

A softie? Nah, just sympathetic when it comes to sitting in ICU, praying beside someone I love. I have done it, and hope I never have to again.

This was a recipe for diaster from the start.

2 eleven year old boys were allowed to ride a four wheeler:

1. No helmets

2. Riding double on a machine made for a single rider.

3. Allowing children to ride a vehicle they were not old enough to opperate.

Supervision would not have saved them since the parents were the ones who allowed them to opperate the vehicle.

Sorry these people had to learn the hard way, I hope their child is ok - but if they had used their heads he would not have gotten hurt.

When a family member comes onto one of these forums and states their anger with what is being said, there is an instant change in the direction of and the amount of negativity within the conversations.
So what does that tell us? Whether they have the courage or take the time to respond, clearly they are always reading these posts.
Freedom of speech should never be imposed on or limiited, however, a higher level of class could be implemented to ensure we all cause no further harm to those families.
I agree with the comments about helmets and parental supervision but we don't know the whole story. We get a 2-3 paragraph condensed version from the media. We are sheltered from the images of his parents sleeping at his bedside in the ICU pryaing for a miracle, hating themselves for allowing this to happen, etc...
I do not have children, however, I am sure 9 out of 10 times the angry parents voicing their concerns have left their chid unattended at some point. Luckily, your child wasn't harmed, this one was... My opinion, for what's it worth, is more of a request to take a softer approach when posting comment in these instances.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Thank you for the update. I'm still praying. I have a 12 year old who likes to catch snakes and fish, too. I can't imagine him being in a hospital bed.

I it amazing to me the amount of negativity that has been posted about the families of these two boys. What gives one a right to judge? Until you can look at yourself in the mirror and know that what you see is a person that has never in his life made mistakes or a bad judgement, then keep your thoughts to yourself. One of my deepest fears is the thought of something happening to my children. No matter how protective we are, accidents do happen. These people are dear friends of mine, and my heart breaks for them. We have Jacob and his cousin in our thoughts and prayers and wish nothing but the best for him and his family. Why do people have to be so harsh and cruel? This is not about what they should've, could've or would've done, it is about this boy recovering from a horrible ACCIDENT!!!! Until you get the chance to meet this wonderful family, if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all. I can only imagine the pain they are going through.
God bless, and know we love you all.

I hate arguing on these forums, matter of fact, I hate to see any arguing whatsoever... Still no excuse for me to argue with you. I should just allow you to feel that its wrong for someone to state what they are thinking...
Yes I would let them ride a four Wheeler, if I had an eleven year old. If it had been a forty year old he probably would have been seriously injured to. Are you going to lock boys up in a house and make them play videos games all day? This boy was having fun, an accident happened. Accidents happen all the time to good people who try to do everything right, but at least the live their lives. Do not be afraid of the bear that awaits outside your door. Sad? very, but I bet the young man would do it again. I would not let my eleven year old son ride his bike out of the yard, he still gives me a hard time about it. And when he got his license, I never saw him because i hovered over him, If I had it to do over, he would ride his bike anywhere he wanted .

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers for Jacob he still has a long road ahead. As for all of the people who are pointing fingers and casting blame only GOD can judge so you should keep your opinions to yourself instead of posting where all of his family can read it. We don't need negativity right now. We love you Jacob and can't wait to have you back at the dinner table. Our prayers go out to his parents and sister and the rest of our family.

First, I'd like to say that I am praying for the family involved...

Second, I don't see why everyone is yelling about kids on a 4 wheeler.. I allow my 5 year old son and my 8 year old son ride and race a 4 wheeler. They have the safety equipment and they use it every time, even if they are just moving it around the shop. Accidents happen. That is why they are called ACCIDENTS. I hope and pray that no one has to go through what this family is going through.

Again, I'm praying for the family!

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Sagittarius

Mercury turning retrograde in your house of finances carries a rather unseasonal message, because it's telling you to pay attention to your finances over the next few weeks. If you already know that you've overspent this month, you won't need to be told that a few economies are just around the corner. Get the facts straight and pay attention to the small print. You may also have to make some adjustments to an intimate relationship so it can move into another phase.
