How about focusing work on the worn out before the "worn a little bit" areas. Dont get me wrong, I'm all for fixing the roads, I just think that there are other areas that need it more

1 It's cheap engineering and poor specifications that has caused this problem statewide. ODOT should be ashamed of itself. |

There is sand on the highways and streets from last years ice storm. ODOT is a joke.

Will these same guys be planning/executing our new street repair deal?

No doubt, anyone that travels 169 can see what kind of workmanship we're getting. I thought they were going to fix it, instead they made it way worse. |

last year they did the northbound lanes early spring, then did not grind the pavement until late summer.
So for thousands of everyday commuters times 6 months... millions of drivers had to suffer the constant bumps from 36th North to downtown. I became exasperated with it and wrote a letter to the Governor! Similar treatment is happening to highway 412 going west from downtown to Snad Srpings. The bars were installed in the left two lanes but the right lane was left untouched. The surface has been leveled but the grooves cause my vehicle to weave acros the lanes. I'd hate to be riding a motorcyle along that span. The same treatment has been done on 169.. two out of three lanes,, and those ae the roughest! South Creek Expressway was done some time ago, but the surface was ground to a finer finsih and is hardly noticeable. Why they don't do all? I have no answer. The best job was done first on South Creek Ex.. then the results have been worse since then. There is no excuse besides.. "Hey I'm just a public servant"... laugh |

I've also heard that the steel can be used to guide future driverless cars (among other conspiracy theories).

This is what happens when the low bidder gets the job, then they try to cut corners to make a profit.

Paul Green should take a ride on the south cr.tpk, the bridge from mingo to 129th is pitiful, how can any company turn out a finished product like that. Whoever constructed that P.O.S. should never have gotten a check. Who needs the Zingo roller coaster when you can take this stretch of tpk.

1 If you are unhappy with the condition of the roads in Oklahoma, vote yes when you are asked to raise the gas tax to fund highway maintenance. It was voted down the last time and you are driving on the results... Don't complain unless you have some knowledge of what you are complaining about. It just makes you look ignorant. |

ODOT has no responsiblity for the Turnpikes. Those are built and maintained by the Oklahoma Tranportation Authority. |

1 back than they didnt think they would need rebar to stablize the concrete slabs. well fast forward to God knows how many years, Time has shown there mistake, all it is is just a trial an error, just fixing errors of the past. Not putting rebar back in where it stablizes 2 concrete slabs could be catastrophic, in time a row of those slabs would raise up on one end and would be one hell of a bump, think of driving on that at 70mph...not good for your car I work for a city and i wish some people knew what goes on in local govt, dont complain about something unless you know the whole situation at hand. what you see out on site of construction projects is only about 10% of what actually goes on. |

+ A BILLION!!! |

Another note about ODOT. What about the down light poles on the BA and 169? Some of those light poles have been down for years. Also, the trash, sand and debris sits on the side of our highways for months. Tulsa is going down fast.

I contacted ODOT to complain that it would be better on our cars to drive on gravel roads versus these notched, grooved, retro, whatever they call it. I have no beef with the workers. Like all of us they are just doing what they have been told to do. This repair technique is outrageous! Why don't I see this in other cities or states that I drive in? Oh yeah, they fund road repairs properly and don't waste money on other projects like arenas and dog parks. Give me a break! My car will need who knows how much maintenance work (suspension, tires, alignment, etc.)due to driving over these sorry roads. ODOT, City/County, whoever...Please spend your money correctly and stop all the waste and cutting corners. Really why should we the taxpayer agree to pay more tax when we already waste what we have know? |

1 "The northbound side was finished last year." Yeah, right, we've had barrels northbound from downtown to 136th St N for quite some time and the southbound left lane was closed in different spots this morning. You never know if the left or the right lane is closed until you get within 1/2 mile of the lane closure. They need to actually finish something! They've got the "dowel bar retrofit", lane smoothing, bridge repair at Peoria, and the cabling all going at the same time. Seems to me they should finish one thing on one lane at a time. Oh, and move the damn barrels out of "open" lanes. I actually hit one in the left lane on my way home that was 1-2 ft inside my lane (most were sitting on the shoulder near the left lane). The car in front of me dodged it, but it was either a barrel or the car beside me, so the barrel it was. |

people complain about the bridges being bad but when your working on them you have to supply traffic control for your safety, but they still complain because its in an inconviences them when they drive, dang to many deg gum whiners in Tulsa |

Deserves to be reposted Don't complain unless you have some knowledge of what you are complaining about. It just makes you look ignorant |

do you even know how much it costs to maintain a highway...neither do i but i know enough in the field to have a pretty good general idea,
im assuming the gas tax was voted on when the prices of oil was above $100 a barrel? no wonder you guys needed to raise the gas tax i know asphalt was getting pretty expensive the city i worked for was taking a big tole on the price of asphalt...we bidded a project out based on the price of asphalt i think in May...well some issues came up that I wont say and we had to wait a while and while we were waiting price of asphalt was going up so much that asphalt companies could only gurantee the price per ton to a day. It was going to cost us more money to lay asphalt than what was originally bid at, so we had to cut out a project to save money...no we had no other funding. You dont think cities and states were taking a hit than think again. you want the city or state to fix what ever your problems are but you dont want to lift a finger to help I say the state, and surrounding cities of tulsa should go on strike because citizens not wanting to do there part because all they want to do is complain uugggh /rant |

I think they need to take into consideration PEAK TRAFFIC TIME!!! AND, possibly a little advance notice! I was almost half an hour late to work this morning because of this sudden shut down & I was pissed off!
