I do not approve any stimulus money going to the arts. If they cannot support themselves, we, the taxpayers should not be asked to support them. No matter whether I do or do not enjoy any of these events, that is not the question, the economy is in such bad shape it certainly should not be asked to fund these events that are not necessary for the average person to live.

What does this have to do with making jobs and people going back to work and get off of welfare? None at all. They need to get of the podeum and look at the people.

Isn't there a number you can now call to report bad stimulus spending? How is this going to boost the economy? I wasn't a Bush supporter but I would much rather have him back for 4 years then deal with this crap!!

The banks should been left to fail; and all the taxpayers registered should have gotten about 200.000 dollars per household, now that would have stimulated something.

Not crazy about any of this stimulas baloney but at least this $50,000 created a new full time job and converted a part time position into a full time position. That's 1 1/2 jobs created by $50,000. Lot better ratio than the river boat in OKC or the Alaskan grandparent study....

It doesn't matter where it goes as long as it is spent, and goes into circulation.

It does matter. And it matters because it's YOUR money and mine. If it's not going to be spent wisely, then give it back!

Well, as for MY money: As long as it is spent, people are earning a wages, and they in turn spend those wages. that's the whole point of the stimulus.

That works for my money.

actually, tulsa opera has been around since the early 50s and gets pretty good crowds. i think they should use the money to reduce ticket prices so more people could afford it. it's great fun but pretty expensive.

I feel if a person doeanot vote then they really should keep their mouths shut! I also feel if a person doesnot pay taxes for what ever reason then your opinion does not count! My husband & I have always paid our fair share of taxes. Never been on government assistance.

Sharon, my people should be exempt from paying taxes due to the fact that we built this nation under the bull whip of the white man on the plantations and prison fields. Hundreds of years of slavery should have paid off the Black Community's taxes in this nation indefinitely.

Well it sounds like you are making up for that. Plenty of other people have put their dues in but don't expect a free ride!

If every race that has been oppressed during the history of this country could be exempt from taxes, who would be left? I cannot think of ANY race that hasn't been "oppressed" at one time or another, including some whites. Many white people came to this country as indentured servants and some against their will. Later, many Irish people who came to America were treated with a great deal of prejudice. And there were others...And think about this, if the "white man" is the only one who should pay taxes, I have to wonder how much tax money would be available to support everyone else?

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Libra

Instead of retreating into your own little world, get out there and spread some love and joy to all those around you. Be sure to pay close attention to the things that make others truly happy - often it can be the simplest of things. Libra is the most sociable sign in the Zodiac and you'll be in your element at the moment. You don't need to go overboard, though, and pick up everyone else's tab!
